One Direction Flash Mob Video: Spreading Message of Acceptance for Anti-Bullying Day

Watch this cool anti-bullying message, a flash mob choreographed to One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful."

The YouTube video got a bump from 1D's Harry Styles, who tweeted: "Holy Jesus. SICCCKKKKK" and Liam Payne, who shared the video on twitter as well, writing: "brilliant flash mob :)"

We couldn't agree more.

More than 18,00 students in Vancouver, British Columbia wore pink "Acceptance" t-shirts as they performed the flash mob routine during a Vancouver Giants game.

The students and the Vancouver Giants worked together to promote Anti-Bullying Day, or Pink Shirt Day, with the hockey players wearing pink laces.

Anti-bullying day is February 27, 2013, but we love this message of acceptance for every day.

But when asked if she could name all the guys names, she hesitated. “Harry!” was the only one she could name.

One Direction beat Justin Bieber and Rihanna at MTV awards

The five baby-faced guys, contestants on the British version of TV singing contest "The X Factor," beat Justin Bieber and Rihanna for best pop music video, and fellow all-boy British outfit The Wanted as best new artists.

They also won the most-shareworthy video award - which was voted on by fans - for their debut hit single "What Makes You Beautiful" and later performed their latest release "One Thing" to hordes of screaming girls at the two-hour Los Angeles ceremony.

"To win one Moonman is amazing, to win two is incredible," said Harry Styles, as the band collected the silver VMA trophy for best new artists.

"Thank you so much! We have grown up watching this show and to collect one of these straight away is incredible," said a jubilant Niall Horan.

One Direction, which is managed by British TV entrepreneur Simon Cowell, made history in March when it became the first UK group to see its first album, "Up All Night," debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Justin Bieber, One Direction In Furious Battle For Most Share-Worthy VMA Title!

Justin Bieber and One Direction are in a serious dogfight for the title of Most Share-Worthy Video at this Thursday's MTV Video Music Awards.

We had no idea when we added the Most Share-Worthy Video category to the 2012 VMAs that things would get so heated.

But they have, and the intense battle that's taking place between Directioners and Beliebers has truly blown our minds. Since voting opened last week, supporters of VMA nominees One Direction — who are set to hit the MTV stage on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT — and Bieber have been tweeting their preference in massive numbers, with more than 43 million votes cast so far!

At press time, the race was as tight as ever, with just over 280,000 votes separating the 22.1 million for 1D's "What Makes You Beautiful" (#voteonedirection) and 21.8 million votes for Bieber's "Boyfriend" (#votebieber). And with five more days to go before Thursday's big show, there's still plenty of time to vote and get your voice heard! Remember, in a race this close, every vote counts!

Justin's fans have, understandably, been very vocal about hyping their man's candidacy, with JB encouraging them on Saturday to get in on the action by reminding them, "and ... #votebieber ... lol." In addition to stumping for Beyoncé, while posting half a dozen tweetminders to his 27.9 million followers to get him into the lead. "Typing this so good on your fingertips," he encouraged them.

Meanwhile, 1D are doing their best to keep their slim lead, with member Niall Horan reminding fans via tweet on Friday, "Only a few days til the VMAs. Let's keep it going."

For now, the battle seems like a two-horse race, with fellow nominees Beyoncé trailing behind with the "Countdown" video (141,000 votes at press time), followed by Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" (52,000) and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" (35,000).

Fans can keep voting for Most Share-Worthy video right up until showtime on Thursday night.

One Direction Hope To 'Make A Moment' At VMAs

When One Direction storm the Staples Center stage at the 2012 Video Music Awards alongside Alicia Keys and a flotilla of yet-to-be-named performers, it will mark the floppy-haired fivesome's first VMA performance ever. So what are the Brits thinking about their big moment?

"We're really looking forward to the VMAs," Liam Payne told MTV News. "It's quite nerve-racking as well, because obviously there's been so many historical moments and stuff that have happened at the VMAs. Now we want to make a moment ourselves, but who knows?"

They will be one of the many performers putting their stamp on the annual party when it kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, September 6. As it gets closer to the show, more performers will be announced, but for now, the guys are basking in the glow of their big news.

"I think performing at the VMAs is such a huge occasion," Payne said. "I think it ranks up there with one of the best performances we'll do so far."

And if that isn't enough One Direction for you, the guys are also up for two Moonmen: Best Pop Video and Best New Artist for their beach-themed "What Make You Beautiful" video. But their performance, and what it will mean to their fans, is really topping their list.

"It's a big occasion to perform at the VMAs, and we're here for our fans," Harry Styles noted. "So this one's for our fans."

The performance and nominations mark yet another thrilling achievement for the boys of 1D. After topping the charts and breaking a record earlier this year with the Stateside release of their debut album, Up All Night, the guys hit the road for a scream-inducing U.S. tour. As the band embarks on opening up a new chapter with the release of their sophomore album in the coming months, the guys' VMA performance will prove they have truly conquered the hearts of Americans.

Watch The Piano Guys give most innovative ever performance of What Makes You Beautiful

And everybody over the age of 14 and/or the ability to grow facial hair said there wasn’t any artistic merit to One Direction…

Five musical chaps (not the 1D lads obviously, we did qualify them as ‘musical’) have taken a piano and given it a darned thorough playing. And not just on the plinky plonky keys.

Covering the teenybopper’s debut hit What Makes You Beautiful, The Piano Guys state on their YouTube channel that their vision is “to create music and videos that inspire & uplift”.

“We like to put a new spin on classic stuff and a classic spin on new stuff.”

Note that One Direction qualify as “new”, not “classic” – just in case anyone was kidding themselves.

“Whatever we do, we put our heart and souls into every note and frame,” they continue.

And YouTube viewers certainly agree.

The video should rack up millions of views thanks to the 1D connection ar>lone, but these guys’ innovative performance skills at utilising every element of the piano’s structure deserves a huge audience in its own right.

YouTube user omghann commented: “i dont play piano but im sure these five amazingly talented piano guys are the ones who gave motivation and inspiration for those who thought of quiting piano to continue playing.. thats the spirit!”

Fellow viewer bethechocolate was also impressed, with their appreciation for the instrument completely revitalised.

“And I thought the piano was a boring instrument OMG AMAZINGGFF,” they said.

User AnoukvanSister was not blown away by the choice of tune, however. They said: “why this song? Sucks!”

Stiull, let’s look at the positives. If nothing else, this surely-soon-to-be-viral vid may introduce a few One Direction fans to the notions of instruments beyond Niall’s guitar-strumming.

'It was incredible': Harry Styles overwhelmed after Chris Martin pays tribute to One Direction at gig

Harry Styles and Chris Martin have a few things in common.

They're both in boybands that have cracked America and enjoy dating thirtysomethings.

But one of the obvious differences is that Chris is probably old enough to be Harry's dad.

Harry, 18, was in awe of his idol when he went to a Coldplay gig in Florida last night.

And he couldn't believe his ears when Chris yelled “That’s what makes you beautiful” just before the track kicked in.

Chris, who's married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, made the tribute during Yellow, which incidentally happened to be Coldplay's first hit.

After the gig, the One Direction star posted on Twitter: "Icon. Coldplay were in another class tonight!!"

Before sharing a link to a video of the moment he was recognised by one of the best bands in the world, he tweeted: "Good night guys... I leave you with the best video I've ever seen. This was incredible."

Well, if things go wrong for Harry with 1D he could always drop Chris a line to see if he's in need of a backing singer.

ONE DIRECTION "YOU'RE A HOMOSEXUAL" VIDEO PARODY

"YOU OWN CAPRIS, LIKE FANCY CHEESE"

One of the fun points (or perils, depending on your sense of humour) about being an internationally known superstar is that parody videos of you doing anything at all spring up all over TheInternetTown.

One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful video seems to be prime parody material. We've had the WYMB babies, a boner-themed spoof, and now this little gem;

The video was uploaded by One DIrection spoof-group One Orientation, who say;

"That Makes you Homosexual" is a parody. We are ONE DIRECTION FANS! This is not intended to be negative towards the band! We DO NOT THINK THEY ARE GAY! We love the song and this is our FUN take on it. EQUALITY for all. Thanks for sharing!"
