'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' on DVD August 7th!

From the 1971 children’s classic, the film is an imaginative journey that begins in the town of Thneedville, where a boy (Zac Efron) searches for the one thing he knows will win the heart of his dream girl (Taylor Swift). But in order to find it, he must discover the story of the Lorax, the often grumpy but loveable protector of Truffula Valley.

Along with deleted scenes and a sing-a-long, the Bluray combo pack also features three new mini-movies: “Serenade” about two Bar-ba-loots — one love shy and the other suave and confident — battle for the heart of their would-be sweetheart with the help of a colorful cast of characters, including the Humming-Fish and Swomme-Swans; “Wagon-Ho” about two Bar-ba-loots take The Once-ler’s wagon on a ride they won’t soon forget; and “Forces of Nature” which follows The Lorax who is determined to scare The Once-ler out of Truffula Valley and creates the illusion of ominous forces of nature.

Taylor Swift & Zac Efron Might Star In ‘The Lorax’ Sequel, Insider Says

‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ animated movie is doing so well at the box office, we’re told Universal wants to make a sequel! Would YOU see it?

Even though Dr. Seuss never wrote a second The Lorax book, Universal is toying around with creating a sequel to Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, since it has done so well in theaters.

Thanks in large part to its A-list stars, who include Taylor Swift and Zac Efron, The Lorax has grossed a whopping $175 million dollars worldwide, making it the highest grossing film of the year so far.

“Even though they don’t have a book to base the sequel off, Universal is trying to figure out a way to make another one, since it’s been such a monster box office hit,” our source says. “And they’d love to have Taylor back.”

Zac Efron & Taylor Swift’s Romance Gave ‘The Lorax’ A Record-Breaking Weekend

Fans flocked to theaters this weekend to see Zac Efron romance Taylor Swift in Dr. Seuss’ ‘The Lorax,’ helping the movie top this weekend’s box office.
The classic children’s book made its big screen debut this weekend and earned a surprising $70.7 million, making it the highest debut so far this year.

According to our sister site Deadline.com, the movie, which stars Taylor Swift, Zac Efron and Danny Devito as the Lorax, made the best opening day ever for a Dr. Seuss movie. It made $17.4 million on Friday. Early predictions show that the film could have the best opening ever for a non-sequel animated film.

Even though Zac and Taylor didn’t actually work directly with each other when working on the film and have stated they are just friends, it looks like fans love the idea of a romance between the two stars…even if it is an on-screen animated relationship.

Zac Efron: 'Taylor Swift Taught me Guitar'

ZAC Efron has revealed Taylor Swift taught him how to play guitar.

The actor was anxious to make good on his 2012 New Year’s Resolution to learn to play the instrument, so reached out to his costar in the animated Dr. Seuss flick The Lorax.

“We were all running around doing different interviews [for The Lorax] but I caught her for five minutes and told her my resolution was to learn how to play guitar,” he said.

“She was like, ‘Well I can play guitar.’ So, you know, then she can teach me. It was great!

“She’s just lovely — so sweet. Everything that just comes across in her music — the warmth, her personality, her charm — is just who she is.”

Meanwhile, Zac — who recently dropped a condom at a movie premiere — has revealed he likes safe sex.

“I never really had a pocket checking policy prior to going onto the red carpet but now I have fully instated one,” he said.

“But it’s a great message to add to the many messages of the film.”

TAYLOR SWIFT DISHES ON VOICING AUDREY IN ‘THE LORAX’

Fans of Taylor Swift will get to see, err, hear the songstress in a whole different light when ‘The Lorax’ hits theaters this Friday, March 2. Swift voices the character of Audrey in the Dr. Seuss film, and the ‘Story of Us’ hitmaker recently sat down with MTV to discuss her role and what it was like recording the voice of the environmentally conscious character.

“It was a completely different space that you go to in your head,” Swift said of what it was like recording voice-overs as opposed to recording music. “You’re in the studio, which I have done a lot, but it’s very different when you’re singing songs that you wrote and you’re trying to access those emotions you felt when you wrote the song. With this, you’re sitting there in a booth by yourself having conversations with no one. No one’s there, we all recorded our parts in different places, so you’re trying to come up with what the other characters would be saying back to you.”

Despite the fact that Swift was initially uncomfortable with the voice-over process, she is a natural and had an easy time pulling it off, especially since she related to her character Audrey so much. “I loved her. She’s heavenly. She’s such a day dreamer, and she cares so much about the past, which is what makes her different from everyone else in the society that she lives in,” Swift said of her ‘Lorax’ chacter. “To some degree, you have to have a priority based on the past and the future as well as the present, and she cares about the trees that used to exist.”

Another plus about voicing Audrey? “I grew up on a Christmas tree farm, and she’s obsessed with trees,” Swift told MTV. You can hear Swift as the nature-loving Audrey in ‘The Lorax’ when it hits theaters on March 2. The film also features voice-over work from Zac Efron, Danny Devito and Betty White.

ZAC EFRON THINKS TAYLOR SWIFT IS AN ANGEL

AND SHE THINKS HER LORAX CO-STAR IS JUST PLAIN AWESOME.

We've seen Taylor Swift and Zac Efron out and about together promoting their new film The Lorax a lot recently, prompting a whole swarm of are they, aren't they dating rumours. Despite denying it all the pair seem very fond of each other, with Zac calling Taylor "an angel."

Awww.

When was quite finished dropping condoms all over the red carpet, Zac took some time out to tell the world just what he thinks of Tay Swizzle.

She's "an absolute angel," he told US interviewer Matt Lauer, "I know Taylor, so I know the presence she would bring [to the movie]."

They certainly seem very pally, but it's not from making the film that they got to know each other as despite starring opposite one another, they recorded their parts separately.

Although Zac has recently been linked to Phil Collin's daughter Lily, he and Tay Swizzle have been seen out and about together a lot recently. Does this mean that the pair are a couple after all?

Not according to Taylor, who put it pretty bluntly when she and Zac appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show, saying: "We are not a couple. He's awesome, we are not a couple though."

OK Taylor, we get what you're trying to say already!

The country singer made a point of talking about her status as a singleton, telling Ellen that she even spent her Valentine's day hosting a "pathetic single girls party."

"That was actually what it was called," she said. "I had my single girlfriends over and we had junk food, ate whatever we wanted and danced and made profile cards about why we are single."

Well we're still not convinced. Mainly because we think they would make an awesome all singing, all dancing showbiz couple.

Taylor Swift 'Fascinated' By Acting

Although pop/country superstar Taylor Swift has her hands full with a very successful music career — be it grabbing Grammys or working on a song for the "Hunger Games" soundtrack, don't rule her out for a full-fledged crossover into acting.

Swift recently went from recording songs to sound effects when she took on the role of Audrey in "The Lorax."

"What people don't think about with character acting in the voice-over form [is] you're making a lot of sounds," Swift told MTV News recently about her experience in the latest Dr. Seuss movie, which also features the voices of Zac Efron, Betty White and Danny DeVito. "It's very different from when you're singing songs that you wrote. With this, you're sitting there in a booth by yourself having conversations with no one."

Taylor Swift Calls Work On 'Lorax' 'Completely Different'

From the recording studio to the stage, it's certainly clear that Taylor Swift has a knack for expressing her emotions and skills. While the singer/songwriter has graced the silver screen only once, she's taken her talents to the sound booth for her portrayal of Audrey, a tree-loving daydreamer in the upcoming film "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax."

MTV News sat down with Swift recently as she prepared for Friday's release of the famous Dr. Seuss tale, which follows the journey of a young boy who must save endangered trees in hopes of winning a girl's heart. While making music and characterizing an animated girl are two quite-different tasks, if anyone can do it, and do it well, there's no doubt it is Taylor Swift.

"It's a completely different space that you go to in your head," Swift explained about voice-over work. "It's very different from when you're singing songs that you wrote. ...With this, you're sitting there in a booth by yourself having conversations with no one."

Having scripted conversations by yourself and answering questions to a voice you can't even see might seem like a lonely gig, but, as with any of her work, the Grammy-winner found meaning and excitement in her role. Even though Audrey and Swift might not exactly resemble one another physically (Audrey has red hair), the blonde singer/songwriter connected with the character on a deeper level.

"She's heavenly. She's such a day dreamer, and she cares so much about the past," Taylor said. "To some degree, you have to have a priority based on the past and the future as well as the present."

As seen in the trailer, the character of Audrey is fun, bubbly, curious and a big fan of trees. Swift certainly fits all of these traits, and we're looking forward to seeing what she does with the character when "The Lorax" is released Friday.

Oh, and does Taylor dig trees as much as her animated counterpart? "I grew up on a Christmas tree farm, and she's obsessed with trees," she shared.

Taylor Swift + Zac Efron ‘Dance Dare’ Stars at ‘The Lorax’ Premiere

To promote their new animated movie ‘The Lorax,’ which lands in multiplexes next weekend, Taylor Swift and Zac Efron, who are not a couple, embarked on an Ellen DeGeneres-designed ‘dance dare’ at the film’s Hollywood premiere. If you are not familiar with the concept of a dance dare, it’s basically when you dance around people until they notice and/or catch you. Silly? Yes? Super fun? Definitely.

The duo danced around other famous people, like senior citizen fave Betty White, who lends her voice to the film, as well. Swift’s best friend Selena Gomez and her boyfriend Justin Bieber are also a part of the dance dare fun.

For the dance dare, Swift and Efron got down and boogied to ‘Sexy and I Know It’ by synth pop group LMFAO. Swift, wearing an incredibly femme, cream-colored, sleeveless dress with an adorable neckline and heels, appeared to be enjoying herself. The whole dance dare “craze” reminds us of the old phrase “Dance like no one is watching.”

It’s hilarious to see Swift let loose and flail around in a goofy fashion. She got her groove on and was shaking her thing without a care in the world.

The Lorax stars chatted with the hostess about their non-couple status and what they really did for Valentine’s Day last week.

Taylor, 22, shared, “We are not a couple. He’s awesome, we are not a couple though. You hear people get together when they’re shooting movies, co-stars. But not like animated co-stars. You know what I’m saying. Oh my god, as we were recording out voiceovers on separate coasts we really connected.”

And after hearing how T spent her V-day, Zac, 24, said, “That’s so different then what single guys do. I went to a screening of a film that I did called Liberal Arts. Then cooked some dinner.’

Taylor Swift Encourages Kids to Read in New 'Lorax'-Themed PSA

After donating 14,000 Scholastic books to the Nashville Public Library, Taylor Swift is now starring in a new Read Across America PSA with her co-stars in 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax.'

The National Education Association has enlisted Taylor, Zac Efron, Danny Devito, Ed Helms and Betty White to champion the special day in which children and adults alike are encouraged to read.

The cast members took turns reciting a poem that says: "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child. In schools and communities let's gather around. Let's pick up a book. Let's pass it around. There are kids all around you, kids who will need someone to hug, someone to read. So join in the fun in your own special way. Read across America with Dr. Seuss and the NEA."

Read Across America Day will take place on March 2, which is the same day that 'The Lorax' opens in theaters.

Taylor Swift: ‘I’m Good At Being Single’

Taylor Swift may croon about the enchantment of love, but the superstar is currently flying solo.

“[I’m] completely [single],” Taylor told Access Hollywood correspondent Kit Hoover, when asked about her romantic status during a junket for Taylor’s new animated film, “The Lorax,” in Los Angeles.

“[Are you] loving it?” Kit asked.

“Yes! I’m actually really good at being single,” the “Mean” singer answered with a smile. “As much as I love to complain about it, I’m actually very independent and I’m fine. I’m really good by myself.

“But I do love to complain about being single, even though I’m really I’m fine with it,” she added.

The 22-year-old country cutie – who has been linked to Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and more over the years – says she doesn’t have a particular “type” when it comes to men.

“No, I’m random,” she told Kit. “There’s no way to predict a pattern. That’s what my friends tell me.

“So, that’s also kind of good, [it] sets the bar low for the future,” she added, laughing.

The singer – who is known for airing her breakup grievances in song – said the fear of having their personal issues forever remembered on one of Taylor’s hit albums doesn’t usually scare off potential suitors.

“I don’t think it ever bothers guys when things are good, like, in the beginning,” she said. “I think it bothers them in the end when things aren’t good, but that’s not, then it’s not really my problem anymore — to care what they think about it.

Taylor lends her voice to “The Lorax” playing Audrey (alongside stars including Zac Efron, Betty White, Ed Helms and Danny DeVito), a character whose name holds sentimental value for the Dr. Seuss film.

“Dr. Seuss’ wife was actually named Audrey, so it’s really pretty cool that I get to play this part,” she told Kit. “I have always loved Dr. Seuss. I love the rhyme schemes and the way that words just bounce off a page and the way that afterward you ‘ve learned something, but you didn’t realize it at the time because it was so much fun.”

“The Lorax” opens in theaters on March 2.

Zac Efron & Taylor Swift Interview For ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’

From the creators of ‘Despicable Me’ and the imagination of Dr. Seuss comes the 3D-CG feature ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax,’ an adaptation of the classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler. Also bringing their talents to the film are Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic youth who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Audrey, the girl of Ted’s dreams. Rob Riggle will play financial king O’Hare, and beloved actress Betty White will portray Ted’s wise Grammy Norma. ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ is scheduled for release March 2nd in the US and July 27th in the UK.

What was your initial reaction to this film?

Zac Efron: At first, when I heard about ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax,’ I vividly remembered being read that book by my parents. I remember flipping through the pages. It was this book that first planted that seed of the environmentalist in me. Also, who doesn’t want to do Dr Seuss? He’s just the coolest person ever. The fact that The Lorax is about the environment and has those messages, it’s one of the reasons I feel the way I do today. Dr. Seuss taught me that when I was so young. And I wanted to be a small part of his legacy. I feel very very lucky to be apart of this film.


Taylor Swift: It’s got this magical essence to it. There’s something so insane about the story, there’s such loss, but then there’s also such hope to it. And that’s always been my favourite thing about the story – the hope. One of the reasons I’ve been drawn to Dr. Seuss is the rhyming, I’ve always had this obsession with rhyming – so I grew up and became a song writer, so now I get to rhyme stuff all the time (laughs). Also, I’m drawn to anything cute, these animals in the story are heartbreakingly cute. Just ridiculously cute – maximum capacity of cuteness (laughs).

What appealed to you in particular about Audrey?

Taylor Swift: She’s got some really extraordinary characteristics about her personality. She’s adventurous, she takes chances, she’s brave, she’s strong, all the while being the object of affection for Ted – which is this really cute crush that he has on an older girl. Also, this character, Audrey….this book was in part inspired by Dr. Seuss’ wife Audrey. Audrey is an original character in the film. For the filmmakers to create a character and name her after Dr. Seuss’ wife, it’s amazing , and to get the honour to do the voice is pretty cool, very exciting.

Ted’s crush on Audrey, it’s the catalyst of his journey and adventure.…

Zac Efron: Yeah. Audrey’s into nature, she’s into trees. And he’s never seen trees, he doesn’t really know what they are. But besides him doing anything he can for this girl that he loves, he decides he’s gonna go and find a tree. Which is pretty hard in a world where they practically don’t exist. As soon as he gets to the Once-ler and hears the Once-ler’s story and starts to become involved, he realises there’s a much more important reason that he’s been put on this journey. He suddenly takes charge and realises he can make a difference, and that there’s a reason he was sent here.

What really speaks to you about Dr. Seuss’ stories?

Taylor Swift: My favourite thing of Dr. Seuss’ books is that he creates an entire world. His imagination spans so far that he’s created this entire world of…..whimsy and quirkiness. You’re so drawn into it that you almost forget that you’re being fed a really important message. I think the message of ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ is that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Appreciate what you have while you have it. Appreciate the beauty of what’s there right now, and try to preserve it for tomorrow.

You’re joined by a great voice cast in this film?

Zac Efron: Oh yeah, there’s definitely something for everybody in this movie. The cast is incredible. I love every single person in it. I can’t wait for people to see them bring these characters to life. Also, from where it is in the book, we’ve really made this a cool movie adventure version of it. This is a once in a life time epic journey to save the planet, it’s a fun journey to be on. Taylor’s perfect for this, she’s so sweet all the time – unconditionally sweet. I think she’s great because….she has exactly what I think the reason Ted has such a big crush on Audrey – sweetness.

You’ve also got Danny Devito as the grumpy but charming Lorax.

Zac Efron: When I heard Danny Devito was doing the voice of the Lorax, I thought that was legendary (laughs). I just saw a little mock-up that they created, it was actually very detailed, you could see the hairs moving on his face. It was Danny’s voice put through, he was walking along and saying, “Who’s chopping down that tree? Was it you?” I was in love, I just thought I love this character, I was sold straight away, I wanted see what happens to this guy. It’s a magical pairing.

Taylor Swift and Zac Efron to Appear on 'Ellen' to Promote 'The Lorax'

Taylor Swift and Zac Efron are starring in the upcoming animated film 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax,' and to promote the movie, the two will be appearing on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' next month.

The country star and actor were spotted having dinner together recently in L.A., sparking rumors of a budding romance. But since the release of her super-successful album, 'Speak Now,' Taylor's love life has been under the microscope more than ever.

The relationship hasn't been confirmed, but if there's anyone who can get the scoop, it's Ellen. The talk show host got Taylor to dish about her breakup Joe Jonas on the show, and most recently her very single status.

The duo will appear on the February 21 episode of 'The Ellen Degeneres Show' and 'The Lorax' arrives on March 2.

The USDA Forest Service has teamed up with Illumination Entertainment for this new PSA and ad, featuring scenes from the upcoming animated adventure, which opens in March.
