Kermit and Miss Piggy Sing One Direction's "Little Things," Muppet-style

Love is in the air for Kermit and Miss Piggy, as they sing One Direction's "Little Things"--only, the whole thing almost goes terribly, horribly wrong. Kermie was within an inch of a karate kick to the face from Piggy, as some of the lyrics came off a bit more offensive than he intended.

Watch as the Muppets Most Wanted stars tackle the 1D tune for Capital FM, and it's all filled with sweet gushy stuff and all that, until Kermit starts the rundown on Piggy's body parts, singing, "I know you've never loved the crinkles by your eyes when you smile. You've never loved your stomach or your thighs...your little curly tail at the bottom of your spine...well, I'll love them endlessly, Piggy."

Her take? Uh...watch out, Kermit! She comments, "Is this supposed to be flattery?"

Thankfully, Kermit is quick on his feet...er...flippers...and steered the lyrics back on track.

We can only hope this 1D cover is a sign that the One Direction guys will collaborate with the Muppets soon (they've ventured to Sesame Street, so why not?).

TOP PICK: Ed Sheeran: 'Little Things' in Paris - Watch Now!

Ed Sheeran kicks off his 2012 European tour at Le Trianon on Sunday night (November 18) in Paris, France.

The 21-year-old British singer surprised his audience with an acoustic performance of “Little Things,” a song he penned for his buddies One Direction.

Ed recently opened up about the track with MTV, “It was written about the best things about someone, kind of like the things you wouldn’t expect.”

One Direction's Recorded 'Little Things' By Accident

In many ways, Ed Sheeran is kind of like the honorary sixth member of One Direction. (No offense, Drew Brees.) And while his vocals are nowhere to be found on the band's sophomore album, Take Me Home, his folkie presence is.

That vibe is felt on the band's current single, "Little Things," which has quickly become a 1D fan favorite. But, even the band's loyal fans might be surprised to learn that the group hadn't even intended on recording it when they first hit the studio with Sheeran.

"That one actually wasn't one of [them] we were supposed to be recording," Harry Styles dished to MTV News. "We went in to record a different one of his and he said 'I've written something else if you want to hear it'... he wrote it and then played it to us in the session when we were supposed to record something else and we said 'All right, we want to record that now.' "

From there, the track was born, and the guys have no regrets, especially considering they consider it their first-ever real entry into the world of love ballads. The track, as the title might suggest, focuses on the perfections and flaws that make the special someone the song is about so loveable, tight jeans and all. It was that subject matter that drew the boys to the slow jam.

" 'Little Things' is our first proper ballad, so it's great that they love it and that we've done a great job because the ballads the real important thing," Liam Payne explained.

"We're really happy with it as well because boy bands have done ballads before and this song's really different for a boy band," Zayn Malik added. "It's just all about the song, the lyrics and getting the emotion across. It's not sad, it's more about falling in love with somebody."

In addition to the sugary sweet ballad, Sheeran also gifted the guys with the mea culpa slow jam, "Over Again," on the album. So, what is it about Ed Sheeran that the guys love so much?

"He's just such a good songwriter," Liam said. "He comes up with amazing songs 'cause we're such big fans of him. We just think he's wicked, so whatever songs [he's come] to us [with, we use]."

But, hitting the studio with Sheeran can prove to be a bit of a logistical nightmare, as it adds an additional person to five-piece boy band. But, they've found a way to work out those sessions. "The thing is, if you have us and Ed — six people trying to write song — not everyone [is] going to be the same way," Harry explained. "It's kind of hard, so it's usually split up between three and two [people]. The songs that are on the album that he did, he'd written and when we're there, whoever's not like in the booth, everyone just kind of jams and comes up with ideas."

Back in the summer, MTV News spoke to the red-headed songwriter, and he explained what inspired the two tracks on the group's album and what drew him back to the group after working with them on their debut album, Up All Night. "Seventeen-year-old Ed just wrote a lot of love songs, so expect to hear a lot of love songs on their album, I guess," Sheeran explained. "I had a wicked girlfriend at 17. ... She was great. Actually [my] + album is pretty much about her," he went on to reveal. "So she spawned off a lot of songs."

One Direction top both charts

One Direction did the double as they climbed straight to the summit of the singles and albums charts.

The English-Irish boyband have gone from strength to strength since finishing third in X Factor in 2010 and this week they scored their first ever number one album with Take Me Home.

It meant that golden oldies Rod Stewart and the Rolling Stones had to settle for silver and bronze with Merry Christmas Baby and Grrr.

And after cracking America and headlining Children in Need, the 1D boys continued on the up and up as their newly released ballad Little Things beat Bruno Mars tune Locked Out Of Heaven to the top of the singles list.

It becomes their second ever chart-topping single after debut release What Makes You Beautiful reached number one in September last year.

Also flying the X Factor flag high, last year's winners Little Mix went straight to number three with new song DNA.

Little Things writer Ed Sheeran also had plenty to be happy about, as the ginger singer-songwriter's Give Me Love leapt from number 139 to number 18 to make him this week's fastest climber.

Other new entries in this week's singles chart included McFly's Love Is Easy at number 10, taken from their upcoming Best Of collection, Memory Lane.

The track became the pop rockers' 20th Top 40 hit, which includes an impressive total of seven number ones.

One Direction's double whammy was the second in so many weeks after Robbie Williams pulled off the same feat last Sunday with single Candy and album Take The Crown.

One Direction's 'Little Things' Shows 'Anarchy Around Them'

One Direction are only one week away from dropping their sophomore album, Take Me Home. And having gifted fans with two very different music videos off the release, it seems like they are already hard at work on their next clip.

"I'm working on a third one for the moment with the guys and you're only as good as your last video, as they say," director Vaughan Arnell told MTV News. "So every time it's really exciting to get a new track in. But, yeah, it'd be great to do some more stuff with them."

They threw a massive camp-themed party in the woods for their "Live While We're Young" video and then they slowed things down and hit the studio for their "Little Things" clip. Now, Arnell, who directed the two videos, knows what he wants to do with the guys for their next video.

"I think with the next one, we might go slightly more cinematic," he added. "The first one we did outside in a forest, the second one we did was in the studio and it was much more lit and I think in a way it'll be a mixture of the two, so something that's really them and nobody else and only they own."

As for what song off the November 13 album release will get the video treatment, Arnell couldn't say what the track is or what it even sounds like, joking, "I couldn't tell you! I've got an explosive device wrapped around my neck."

He has been impressed by the guys though. Arnell hadn't met them until they all hit the set for the "Live While We're Young" video and shares that they were really quite easy to work with. "I think they're brilliant to work with and I'm not saying that in a cheesy way," he said. "But they've got so much energy and you can kind of say this is the thing, this is what I want to do. It's kind of all on the spot stuff where they kind of choreograph it with you, make the thing work and they're really good at knowing where the camera is and finding the angles. The guys really inject the energy into it. Nothing's too pre-planned."

And as for their boy band status, Arnell says that while they are a "boy band," they seem to defy the label and redefine what it means to be in a group of that nature. "In a way they're kind of like the next generation of boy bands. I kind of like the anarchy around them. Sometimes when you look at some of the shots in 'Live While We're Young,' when one guy's singing maybe the other guys are just chatting or looking around in the background," he said. "I think they're sort of the next generation, in a way, which I really like and find exciting."

One Direction's 'Little Things' Video Is About 'Stripping Down'

One Direction dropped their simple, black-and-white video for their Take Me Home single, "Little Things," last Friday. While the heartthrobs could have opted for a video with a story, instead they decided to make the video all about the band, alone in the studio, recording the track for their fans to hear.

Director Vaughan Arnell tells MTV News he didn't want to make it about anything more than that.

"When I first heard the track, the mix on it was so simple and so pure and you could hear all the qualities of the voices on the track, I just wanted to come up with something that when the viewer watched it, it was almost like sitting there listening to the boys sing the track," he shared about the clip, which dropped ahead of the album's November 13 release date.

"And I thought there are so many ways you can shoot a ballad," he continued. "And I thought the most pure way to do it was like if you were going back into the recording studio when they recorded it for the first time, to make it as uncontrived as possible and that you really got the qualities of their voice coming through without any other bullsh-- or effects in the way of it. I wanted to try and create something that was very pure."

While it may seem like a simple concept, the shoot itself was actually more complicated than Arnell or the guys in 1D could have anticipated.

"I think at the time of the idea they were [excited], but then when we came to shoot it I think it was one of the hardest things I've ever done," he shared. "Because we were in the studio for over twelve hours and I think just to sit there and kind of perform it over and over again because I was just trying to get different shots, different angles, different qualities. It was a really tough shoot because they had to keep their energy going and keep the vibe going. I think they liked it, but I think in the end it was a tough one just to sit there and keep interested. It was a simple idea, but a tough shoot."

As for the decision to go black and white, Arnell felt it best captured the essence of the Ed Sheeran-penned ballad.

"I think it was just purely for the quality, the pureness of the track. And I think sometimes when you get color involved, it sometimes taints. It can be too warm or too cold and I think black and white as an image can be pure and you kind of read more into it," he said. "In a way, it was stripping down everything to its bare minimum so you're just looking at the guys. We wanted to create something that gave it a timeless quality as well."

And, if when you're watching the guys sing the ballad, it feels like they are singing it right to you. Well, that was kind of the intention. "I think it's really nice when people read their own story into it. And, when you watch it, it's really like the guys are singing it to the viewer and nobody else," he said. "It's purely about the clarity of it. When you sit there watching it, it's almost like these little bits of eye contact [and] you really feel like the guys are singing it to you."

WATCH: ONE DIRECTION REVEAL THEIR BEST CHAT UP LINES ON THIS MORNING

One Direction appeared on ITV breakfast show This Morning yesterday, and unleashed their best chat up lines on presenter Alison Hammond.

Taking part in a game entitled 'Take Me Home' - the boys were challenged to use words and only words (no knicker melting smiles allowed) to pick up a gal.

Sadly, the boys' attempts ranged from cringe to AGH GAHD LET US HIDE OUR FACES - proving that no matter who it comes from, a cheesy pick up line is never a good thing.

Still would though, obvs.

Taking full advantage of her time with the 1D lads, Alison then instigated a 'hugging contest' - making us slap ourselves on the forehead and wonder why we've never put that genius idea into practice before.

Watch the video below to see all this and more. Would any of those chat up lines work on you?

One Direction Excite Fans Over 'Little Things' Video Teasers

Before eager fans can lay eyes on the complete "Little Things" video, the band One Direction have decided to create more thrills by releasing video teasers that show what people can expect from the new promo. The teaser clips hype up the few days remaining before the video is finally out on Friday, November 2.

The Ed Sheeran-written track from the band's upcoming LP "Take Me Home" is a sweet, acoustic guitar-driven song which presents a new side to the boys' musical talents. The images seen on the teaser clips seem to take on the same relaxed and mature aura that the group is exploring now.

The two teasers released so far have been in black and white, and focused on band members Niall Horan and Zayn Malik while they tinkered with knobs, fooled around, and performed the song inside their recording studio. More teasers featuring the remaining band members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne are expected to land online before the Friday launch date.

"Little Things" is the follow up single to "Live While We're Young" both from the band's new album "Take Me Home" slated for a November 12 official release.

One Direction: 'Little Things' Lyric Video

Check out the just released lyric video for One Direction‘s new song “Little Things”!

The track was co-written by Ed Sheeran and is the second song off the group’s brand new album Take Me Home, which will hit stores everywhere on November 13.

“Your hand fits in mine/ Like it’s made just for me/ But bear this in mind/ It was meant to be,” the boys sing on the track.

“It was written about the best things about someone, kind of like the things you wouldn’t expect,” Ed told MTV News about the album. “You’ll have to hear it. I can’t really say too much ’cause it’s their album. I want them to be the first ones to announce it and stuff.”

Your hand fits in mine
Like it’s made just for me
But bear this in mind
It was meant to be
And I’m joining up the dots
With the freckles on your cheeks
And it all makes sense to me

I know you’ve never loved
The crinkles by your eyes
When you smile,
You’ve never loved
Your stomach or your thighs
The dimples in your back
At the bottom of your spine
But I’ll love them endlessly

CHORUS:
I won’t let these little things
Slip out of my mouth
But if i do
It’s you
Oh it’s you
They add up to
I’m in love with you
And all these little things

You cant go to bed
Without a cup of tea
And maybe that’s the reason
That you talk in your sleep
And all those conversation
Are the secrets that I keep
Though it makes no sense to me

I know you’ve never loved the sound of your voice tape
You know want to know how much weigh
You still have to squeeze into your jeans
But you’re perfect to me

CHORUS:
I won’t let these little things
Slip out of my mouth
but if it’s true
It’s you
Oh it’s you
They add up to
I’m in love with you
And all these little things

You’ll never love yourself
Half as much as I love you
You’ll never treat yourself right darlin’
But i want you to
If i let you know
I’m here for you
Maybe you’ll love yourself like i love you
Oh..

I’ve just let these little things
Slip out of my mouth
Because it’s you
Oh it’s you
It’s you
They add up to
And I’m in love you
And all these little things

I won’t let these little things
Slip out of my mouth
But if it’s true
It’s you
It’s you
They add up to
I’m in love with you
And all your little things

One Direction's 'Little Things': British Boy Band Releases New Single Written By Ed Sheeran

British boy group One Direction has released its latest single. Called "Little Things," the song was written by fellow Brit heartthrob Ed Sheeran; it will appear on the band's upcoming album, "Take Me Home."

One Direction teased the lyrics of the first verse of the song on their Facebook page last weekend: "Your hand fits in mine like it’s made just for me / But bear this in mind, it was meant to be / And I’m joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks / And it all makes sense to me."

"It is kind of a very sweet song," Sheeran said in an interview with MTV. "It was written about the best things about someone, kind of like the things you wouldn't expect. You'll have to hear it. I can't really say too much 'cause it's their album. I want them to be the first ones to announce it and stuff."

The singer/songwriter also told Capital FM that "Little Things" has "one of my favorite lines that I've ever written in a song." The verse he is referring to goes, "I know you never like the sound of your voice on tape and you never like to know how much you weigh and you still have to squeeze into your jeans, but you're perfect to me."

One Direction released a lyric video on their VEVO channel to debut the song.

"Take Me Home," which is due out Nov. 13, is One Direction's second album. Their first album, "Up All Night" took Billboard's number one spot, selling 176,000 copies in its first week.

One Direction Make Big Changes On 'Little Things,' Ed Sheeran Says

One Direction will soon unleash their new single, "Little Things," off their November 13 album release, Take Me Home. And, if fans are expecting a tune as bouncy as the album's lead single, "Live While We're Young," they'd better think again. Songwriter Ed Sheeran says the group wanted to slow things down.

"It's got one of my favorite lines that I've ever written in a song," he told Capital FM about the track, which is slated to hit the U.K. very soon. "Harry says, 'I know you never like the sound of your voice on tape and you never like to know how much you weigh and you still have to squeeze into your jeans, but you're perfect to me.' "

He describes it as an acoustic ballad (which sounds similar to "Moments," the track he gave them on their debut Up All Night), and he added that the guys are trying to shake things up a bit on this new release. He said, "I think they just wanted to try something different. I think they did the same formula with the last single — it sounded like a One Direction song — and now I think they want to switch it up a bit."

Back in September, Sheeran spoke to MTV News about the track, sharing that it "is kind of a very sweet song," he said. "It was written about the best things about someone, kind of like the things you wouldn't expect. You'll have to hear it. I can't really say too much 'cause it's their album. I want them to be the first ones to announce it and stuff."

With only weeks until the album drops, fans are eagerly anticipating it. And, it's not only the Directioners who are amped for the release, but also the guys in the band. On Wednesday (October 25), Niall Horan tweeted, "Listened to a few songs on take me home this morning! I literally cannot wait for the release date!"

One Direction new single contains my favourite lyrics, says Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran has revealed that One Direction's new single contains some of his favourite lyrics.

The singer-songwriter penned the track 'Little Things' when he was 17, but has given the song to One Direction for their next single release.

"The great thing about it is I wrote that song with a girl called Fiona Bevan when I was 17 and we lost the song," Sheeran told Capital FM.

"I've kept in touch with Fiona, we've done gigs and stuff and about two months ago she sent me the tune and was like, 'Oh, do you remember this?'

"I was like, 'Yeah, I do remember that', and I was in the studio with the One Direction boys at the time and I was playing it and they were like, 'We really like that'."

He added: "It's got one of my favourite lines that I've ever written in a song.

"Harry says, 'I know you never like the sound of your voice on tape and you never like to know how much you weigh and you still have to squeeze into your jeans but you're perfect to me'."

One Direction will release their new single 'Little Things' on November 11, while upcoming album Take Me Home follows on November 12.
