Miley Cyrus And Bret Michaels Song To Be Released In Australia

Miley Cyrus' duet with Bret Michaels has finally been given a release date, but the song will only be made available in Australia.

The unlikely collaborators teamed up in the studio last year (10) to record a new version of Poison classic Every Rose Has Its Thorn.

The song was set for general release this year (11), but Michaels recently revealed it was scrapped when Cyrus' parents split and he was falsely linked to her mother, Tish.

The song is now set to hit airwaves this summer (11) - but a representative for Cyrus has confirmed the track will only be released Down Under to promote her upcoming Gypsy Heart tour.

The rep tells E! News, "(It will be released) in conjunction with Miley's upcoming tour there. It is Australia only."

Every Rose Has Its Thorn will be released in Australia shortly before Cyrus' first concert in the country in Brisbane on 21 June (11).

Can Miley Cyrus make the leap out of teeny-bopperdom?

She may have had a modest box-office success in the spring with "The Last Song," but Miley Cyrus has returned to doing what she lately seems to do best: getting people to argue over the appropriateness of her behavior.

The actress-singer's new video for the song "Who Owns My Heart," which you can see below, has both restarted the conversation and taken it up a notch: More than past magazine spreads and music videos, it has people wringing their hands over whether the 17-year-old finally has gone too far with her sexual suggestiveness.

To be fair, there are many people out there willing to pile on at the first sign of Miley maturation. On the other hand, for an entertainment personality whose every move is so calibrated, it's hard to imagine that she and father Billy Ray weren't at least partly aware of what a video of bed-side vamping and dancefloor grinding would cause, especially given that so many of Cyrus' fans have yet to hit puberty. (Billy Ray certainly had to realize what reaction it would provoke from the Parents Television Council — a group for which he, whoops, serves on the advisory board.)

But maybe more interesting than the Cyruses' intent is whether this is a good career move for the young star. As a host of former teenybopper icons prove, too much time in the headlines can derail the most felicitous career, something both Britney Spears and the Olsen twins could tell you about firsthand. By becoming known for one more flash-in-the-pan controversy, has Miley risked becoming a flash in the pan herself?

It's a reasonable concern, but I have a feeling that not only will this not hurt her, it will achieve its not-exactly-hidden goal of putting some separation between Cyrus and what made her famous. Cyrus has already made clear with some of her recent choices that she wants to move out of the Disney incubator that hatched her. Her presence in "Last Song" showed that she could wade into darker, or at least more tearjerky, territory and fans will pretty much accept her. She'll next star in a comedy called "LOL" that, like Cyrus herself, straddles the line between the tween and grown-up, and after that I suspect we'll see her going even more adult, a move whose waters this video is meant both to tease and test.

Such a switch isn't without risks, of course. It's one thing to play to your tween fan base, when the acting and quality standards aren't, let's face it, terribly high. Asking adults who didn't grow up with you to accept you seriously in a dramatic part is another matter.
But there's little to lose by trying. You can't play teenybopper forever, and as along as Cyrus can avoid the tabloids and bad behavior, someone will at least give her a shot in a more serious role.

Besides, it's not like the straight-and-narrow always works. There hasn't been a scandalous peep about Christina Aguilera in a decade, but her album sales have fallen since she left her teenybopper period. (Her turn in the upcoming drama "Burlesque" looks unlikely to jumpstart an Aguilera revival on the screen either.) A controversial music video won't take Cyrus to the next place in her career, but it might just bridge the gap.

MILEY'S NEW MUSIC VIDEO STIRRING UP DEBATE

We love Miley Cyrus at Cambio. It seems like her latest video is stirring up a lot of talk.

The 17-year-old just released a music video for her European single, “Who Owns My Heart,” and some parents think it’s a little too racy for the “Hannah Montana” star.

According to the Hollywood Reporter & TMZ, the Parents Television Council is not too fond of it. PTC president Tim Winter says the video, which shows Miley singing on a bed and dancing in a club, “sends messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly.”

The video was also the topic of HLN’s Showbiz Tonight. One panelist said, “we have to stop looking at her as just a 17-year-old. Age is just a number. She deals with adult issues, she’s a media mogul…she’s a businesswoman. She’s not hanging out with other 17-year-old chit chatting in the hallways of high school chatting about whatever 17-year-olds chat about.”

Other comments floating around have said that she’s doing the same thing that Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera did at that age.

So, what are your thoughts on Miley’s new video?

Miley Cyrus 'Who Owns My Heart' Video Blasted By Parents Television Council

Miley Cyrus' new single, "Who Owns My Heart," may question who the pop star's latest boy toy is but the video certainly declares that the teen singer is embracing a sexier persona. However, some believe the 17-year-old singer's racy image is damaging to her legions of young fans.

In the clip, a scantily-clad Cyrus gets dolled up in her room and shows a lot of leg while grooving in the backseat of a car on her way to a rager at a mansion. The teen starlet then spends most of the video dancing in tiny shorts, a revealing halter, big hair and heels and partying until the wee hours.

Tim Winter, who serves as president of the Parents Television Council, told TMZ that the "Hannah Montana" star's sexed-up clip relays the wrong message to her teen following.

"It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one," Winter said. "It sends messages to her fanbase that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fanbase so rapidly."

This isn't the first time the Disney star has faced controversy in her attempts to break away from her squeaky-clean, teen idol status. Her pole-dancing move at the at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards grabbed headlines and her latest LP, Can't Be Tamed, features a much more vampy persona than her "Hannah Montana" alter ego.

"I'm a completely different person [than when I released 2008's Breakout]. I'm much more confident. You know, I've always been a confident person, but I was going through a lot then," Cyrus told MTV News in June. "There's so many people in your life telling you who you should and shouldn't be," Cyrus said. "And that's what Tamed [is] about. It's about being who you are to the fullest. And now I know who that is."

Miley Cyrus Wonders 'Who Owns My Heart' In Sexy Dance Video

There comes a time in every pop princess' career when she must throw a sexy dance party and proclaim her womanhood. Back in 2001 Britney Spears did as much in "Slave 4 U," and this week, Miley Cyrus is doing the same in the video for her club-ready track "Who Owns My Heart."

Cyrus proclaimed her independence on "Can't Be Tamed," and now she's declaring her vamped-up party girl status. Cyrus, who will formally hit adulthood when she turns 18 next month, opens the video lying on a bed in hot pants, a tank top and a mask. She awakens from her disco nap to primp for her night out, but much like the crew from the "Jersey Shore," Cyrus has multiple costume changes before she actually dons her real party gear.

As she applies lipstick and mascara, she's ghetto fab chic in a fishnet hair wrap, rollers, heavy metal jewelry and more skimpy attire. As the beat pulses, Cyrus is in the backseat of a limo, singing about wondering whether she loves the guy she's dancing with or if the music just makes her feel that way. She pulls up to a posh house party, full of revelers who don't really seem to be concerning themselves with love and romance.

At the party, when she's not chilling out in the mansion's study, or writhing on a big, wooden table, she's on the dance floor grinding up against others. The video ends with Cyrus back in her fancy bedroom, once again waking up, perhaps ready for another night of dancing.

The single is from her latest album, Can't Be Tamed, which Cyrus said is all about girls empowering themselves. "It's just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back," she explained to MTV News in June. "And I think that's really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, 'No, you can't do something,' or, 'You need to be this because Mom and Dad say that, teachers say this.' "

Will Miley Cyrus' Next Single Be "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"?

Miley Cyrus' future is lookin' pretty rosy.

Sounds like her cover of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" may be the second single released off her latest album, Can't Be Tamed…

Poison frontman Bret Michaels tells me he and Cyrus will be hitting the studio to fine-tune the song before its release.

"When we sit down on the guitar and the piano and play, she just nails it," the rocker says.

"And I just said to her, 'Listen, you gotta throw everything else out. 'Every Rose' is a No. 1 classic around the world. It was No. 1 in almost every country. So here's the deal—add just a little pop flair, but keep it organic.'"

And Michaels doesn't want things to end in the recording studio. "I'm just throwing it out there, but I could direct a kickass video that would be insanely cool and very hip," he says. "Very down-to-earth, very hip and just a walk through life."

Just a couple of weeks after Can't Be Tamed's title track was released, Michaels and the teen queen performed "Every Rose" together on Good Morning America. Cyrus also appears on Michaels' song "Nothing to Lose" from his latest album, Custom Built.

That's not all I have for you from Michaels. Come back here later to find out what he said about marrying on-again, off-again girlfriend Kristi Gibson, getting naked for the cover of Billboard magazine and his upcoming heart surgery.

War of the Album Covers!

Taylor Swift unveiled her latest album cover on June 18 for Speak Now. Featured in a flowy purple dress and showing just the right amount of skin for a teen idol we have to say that Taylor got the look just right.

Unfortunately we can’t say the same for Selena Gomez (who just released the album cover for A Year Without Rain) and Miley Cyrus, whose album Can’t Be Tamed, has been shamefully sitting on shelves for months now. Here’s the problem: Miley’s album cover, featuring the teenager in a belly baring leather outfit with a cranky face was just too gross for her audience! But Selena’s sickenly sweet cover was simply too boring.

We think that Taylor got it just right. She showed some skin. She smiled (big points for a smile)! But she didn’t come off too boring or childish. It’s a fine line for these young starlets and singers to walk and it's good to know there’s a woman like Taylor out there to show them how to walk it.

Photo From Miley Cyrus' Who Owns My Heart Music Video

Good news for all of the Miley Cyrus fans out there! We have a photo from her set of her latest music video for Who Owns My Heart. The photo gives you a glance at what her video will look like and by all means, she is not slowing down from last video.

In the photo, Miley Cyrus looks a little bit more her age, but I doubt that is one of her real outfits for the video. It is more teen looking than she is trying to look. I do wonder what the video concept will be? I hope that it isn’t as weird as her last one was.

Do not forget the Miley Cyrus is also filming a new movie as well! She also has at least one other film lined up and likely other projects down the pipeline. So you will likely still see much of her in the next few months. What do you think her music video plot is?

Miley Cyrus to Shoot 'Who Owns My Heart' Music Video This Weekend

Miley Cyrus is going to Detroit, Michigan this weekend. The "Hannah Montana" star is scheduled film visuals for "Who Owns My Heart", the next single from her third studio album "Can't Be Tamed".

According to Ken Baker of E! Online, the 17-year-old Disney songstress once again teams up with Robert Hales, the same man who directs music video for the title track of the album. Ken further explained that "Who Owns My Heart" is up for European release only. As for the second single Stateside, Miley reportedly chose "Two More Lonely People".

Other details such as what kind of treatment Robert will write for the upcoming video are still kept under wrap. One thing for sure, it will become another platform for Miley to continue showing her more mature side like she always wants to.

Miley Cyrus On Choosing The 'Right' Scripts For 'Someone Who Is 18'

She's wrapping up "Hannah Montana," declared she "can't be tamed" and now Miley Cyrus is ready to be seen in more adult fare with her next flick, "LOL." And in a new interview with Popstar!, Miley make it clear that everyone should know that she isn't a kid anymore.

"The next film I’m doing is not for the ['Hannah Montana'] audience. But that is why I did the last season, for my young fans," she said the grand finale of her hit Disney show. "I want the fans that have grown up with me from 16-26 who will respond to older material. I have to choose scripts that are right for someone who is 18 because that is me."

So then what should fans expect from her and Demi Moore in "LOL?" "It’s very different going from a show with a huge audience and fan base to something... independent. But I’m excited to work on a film that is going to touch people," she said about the flick. "It’s edgy and different and I don’t know how the fans will react, but it’s something I can relate to."

After "LOL," Miley has some other plans: to get her own place. "I’m probably going to move into my place after 'LOL,' " she teased. "But I have to get some work done first."

We wonder if that work is convincing Billy Ray to let her move out!

Miley Cyrus, Growing Up, Tests Identities

Miley Cyrus will turn 18 in November, though she’s been an adult for some time now. Ever since a suggestive 2008 Vanity Fair photo shoot thrust her out of the Disney cocoon into the mainstream consciousness, she’s been the subject of speculation, concern and fear. Ms. Cyrus, the chatterers argued, was in trouble but could still be saved.

And yet innocence has never been the core of Ms. Cyrus’s appeal. As the star of the Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” series, she plays a knowing character — regular kid by day, pop star by night — who understands the duality of celebrity. Being famous is work, and not always of the glamorous kind.

A similar duality is now beginning to undo Ms. Cyrus in real life, where she’s still tied inextricably to her Disney identity but looking for a safe landing spot. As surely as the teen idol is a part of pop culture, so is the molting of her shiny veneer.

Last week Ms. Cyrus released “Can’t Be Tamed” (Hollywood), the first album that’s shown the frayed seams of her identity. But Ms. Cyrus’s metamorphosis isn’t nearly as radical as “Can’t Be Tamed” — the title track, the video, the title — would suggest. Rather, she’s evolving into something far less controversial: a pop star, confused like all the rest of them.

“Can’t Be Tamed” may be the least consistent of her several albums to date — the ones released under her name and the ones as Hannah Montana — but it’s also the most unexpectedly thrilling. There are phenomenal dance-pop songs but also stilted ballads and high-energy screamers. It continues the anchorlessness that’s been clear in Ms. Cyrus’s music the last year and a half. In that time she’s had two major hits: “The Climb,” a soaring, inspirational pop-country ballad from the soundtrack to “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” and “Party in the U.S.A.,” a saccharine, chirpy confection that’s almost the exact opposite (and, notably, does not appear on this album, or any other).

“Can’t Be Tamed” continues the chaos. The title track is Rebellion 101: “I want to be a part of something I don’t know/and if you try to hold me back, I might explode.” In the video she’s trapped in a cage, wearing wings, and teases her female backup dancers with near-kisses. As ever, on this song Ms. Cyrus displays a husky, distinctive voice that undermines any attempts at naïveté, but still, there’s no frisson to this attempt at rebirth.

Her lashing out is perfunctory too — “Can’t Be Tamed” is merely the song that gets her past the teen-pop ghetto and on to other choices. “Don’t live a lie/This is your one life,” she sings at the beginning of “Liberty Walk,” the album’s first song. But the lie might be that Ms. Cyrus has some core truth that she’s faithful to — on that song alone, she tries out four different vocal strategies, including rapping. Her greatest crime isn’t that she’s maturing too quickly: it’s that it’s unclear where she wants to go.

That’s most likely because Ms. Cyrus was formed in the cauldron of public scrutiny, but not in any particular music scene outside of kid-pop.

“I listen to zero pop music, which is really weird for someone who makes pop music,” Ms. Cyrus improbably told Billboard magazine last month.

If anything, songs like “The Climb” and “Party in the U.S.A.” were scrubbed far cleaner than her Hannah Montana material, which often had a sassy, aggressive edge to it, a mood that’s barely touched on “Can’t Be Tamed.”

Instead, the most exciting songs on this album are club-oriented dance-pop, a genre Ms. Cyrus hasn’t previously shown any affinity for and may never again. Still, it’s a timely and sharp sound. “Who Owns My Heart” — produced, like many of the album’s best tracks, by the pop impresarios Rock Mafia — is full of rubbery synths and swooning choruses in the vein of Cascada.

On “Two More Lonely People,” bright acoustic guitars slash hard against bouncy synthesizers, suggesting, of all things, vintage Debbie Gibson. And at the bridge, there’s a faint echo of Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.”

On “Permanent December,” written with Claude Kelly — who also helped write “Party in the U.S.A.” — Ms. Cyrus tries out a sneering type of sing-rapping, à la Fergie: “Don’t call me a Lolita/’Cause I don’t let ’em through.”

On a more coherent album, that idea would be explored further. But the fact that Ms. Cyrus feels little need to assert her sexuality, or lack thereof, is consistent with her rejection of a single new identity in favor of a cluster of experiments. Perhaps she hasn’t had time to think it through, or maybe she’s realized that evading the subject for now is a more flexible strategy than tackling it head-on.

Still, she may not have those options much longer. “Hannah Montana” will end this summer after its fourth season, bringing the dual identity portion of Ms. Cyrus’s career to a close. At that point, untethered to any old modes, she may in fact look back with some envy on the time in her life when her choices were as simple as either/or.
