TOP PICK: Avril Lavigne Defends Controversial 'Hello Kitty' Video

Earlier this week, Avril Lavigne released her video for 'Hello Kitty.' In addition to the fact that it's a complete disaster, many fans found it offensive.

As soon as the video was released, Twitter was abuzz with all kinds of comments about the video being racist because of the title and the references to Japanese culture. After the controversy erupted, the video was quickly taken down without any explanation or reason given.

Just as soon as it disappeared, it reappeared and Avril isn't shying away from the controversy. In fact, she took to her Twitter and Facebook pages to defend the herself and shared a link to the re-posted vid.

"Racist? LOLOLOL! I love the Japanese culture and I spend half of my time in Japan. I flew to Tokyo to shoot this video specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan," she wrote on both social media sites.

Still, the jury is out on the video and while pretty much everyone can agree that it's terrible, some are saying that they don't see how it can be offensive and others remain completely enraged about it. Check out the video below and tell us what you think.

TOP PICK: What the 'Hello Kitty'?! Avril Lavigne's New Video Is an Absolute Disaster

OK, can someone please explain what the heck we just watched? Avril Lavigne's new video for 'Hello Kitty' is beyond confusing and doesn't seem to make any sense whatsoever. In fact, it makes us long for the simplicity of the lyric video.

There is a fine line between artistic and 'WTF?!' and with this one, Avril definitely finds herself on the wrong side of the equation.

This whole thing is a hot mess. From her Skrillex haircut to leather bustier combined with the Katy Perry-esque use of cupcakes, it's a disaster no matter which way you look at it.

The fact that the dancers look like they'd rather be getting a root canal than hanging out with the Canadian pop star doesn't really help her case much, either.

Apparently, this musical masterpiece (we kid) was written by four people, including Avril's hubby Chad Kroeger--so...we're a little embarrassed for him and the other three people, who are wisely flying under the radar.

We never (ever!) thought we'd see a video worse than Farrah Abraham's 'Blowin,'' but this one is definitely a contender. Check out the video above and tell us what you guys think of Avril's new video.

Miley Cyrus 'attacks' Avril Lavigne in April Fool’s fight

Avril Lavigne wants Miley Cyrus to know there's only room for one famous pop star in Canada.

The Canadian-born singer jokingly argues with Cyrus regarding that title in a new Instagram video.

In the clip, shared by both starlets Monday, Cyrus can be seen reading a handwritten magazine cover that crowns Lavigne "the most famous, beautiful and popular in Canada."

The 21-year "Adore You' singer, who is currently on her Bangerz tour, says she believes she is actually the most popular, which sparks their cat fight.

"I may not be Canadian, but I'm the most famous person in Canada, ya dumb f--kin' b--ch," Cyrus yelled as the two girls throw down in a pretend brawl.

"F--k you Miley," Lavigne, 29, posted with photos of their alltercation.

No need to worry, it's not another celebrity feud, just merely a timely prank.

"April Fools," Lavigne wrote hours later captioning a series of smily pics of the pair.

TOP PICK: Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger Share Their Marriage Secrets

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger recently tied the knot in a castle in France, where the bride deviated from the norm and chose to wore a black dress instead of the traditional wedding white.

Shortly after their wedding, the musical duo released a single together, entitled "Let Me Go," which is a haunting ballad with an equally eerie video to match.

The couple's collaboration was definitely a neat thing for the newlyweds to do and will be a fun memento for them to keep in their collection.

As it turns out, making sure they spend time together--even if it is for work--is one of their relationship rules.

In a new interview with People magazine, the couple opened up about how they're making it work and revealed that there are a couple of golden rules that they follow.

So, what are these rules?

They spend time together--lots of it. Avril said that despite their busy schedules, they do not spend more than two weeks apart. Also, when they are apart, there is a "no drinking" rule.

Along the same lines, they don't go to nightclubs because they feel that's "asking for trouble."

Last, but certainly not least, they appreciate the simple things, like quiet nights at home, cuddling and watching movies.

It sounds like they're really setting themselves up for success and we couldn't be happier for this cute couple!

TOP PICK: Avril Lavigne and Husband Chad Kroeger Release "Let Me Go"

The moment Avril Lavigne has been waiting for has finally arrived.

Not long after telling us she "couldn't wait" for fans to hear her duet with husband Chad Kroeger, the punk princess and her Nickelback frontman beau released their song, "Let Me Go."

On the piano-laden, dramatic ballad, the 29-year-old singer and Chad croon about letting go of love and finding love again.

Avril and her rocker beau met while penning the singer's self-titled, fifth studio album, with the musician telling us, "Chad and I got together to work and to write and we became really good friends, and then eventually it later on turned into something else, which was really cool...so now we're married."

"I think what was really cool about us falling in love was that it was natural and there was a friendship first and it was all around kind of during the making of my record so it was really romantic because he proposed in the studio," she went on.

Avril's album is set to hit stores Nov. 5.

Avril Lavigne Approves of Miley Cyrus, Reveals Drake Is Her Biggest Fan, Talks Black Wedding Dress

Avril Lavigne graced fans with a performance at the iHeart Radio Music Festival today, but not before she caught up with E! News prior to hitting the stage.

The "Rock n Roll" singer, who married Nickelback's Chad Krueger back in July, revealed that married life is going "really, really well."

"I love it and we are really happy. He travels a lot and I travel a lot so we just try our best to be together and support each other," she tells E!

She also had some nuptial deets to share!

"I went for a black wedding dress by Monique [Lhuillier]. She was awesome when I met her, she was really sweet. I found a dress and she made it for me in black and tailored it to me. I had black nails. The wedding was at a castle in the South of France and we stayed up till 6 in the morning."

The rocker, who was previously married to musician Deryck Whibley, added: "It's nice being with another musician and I was not planning on being with another musician. But it's cool cause he really understands what I do."

Avril shares a bit of what it's like being a fan in Las Vegas for the festival: "The best part was I was watching Katy Perry last night and Drake was there watching. He was so excited to meet me. He said, 'I listened to you growing up.' And I go, 'Oh my god! How old are you?' He goes, 'Twenty six. You hold a very special place in my heart.'"

Another artist Avril has love for is Miley Cyrus, who performed before Avril at the music festival. When asked how Avril felt about the 20-year-old's irreverent MTV Video Music Award performance, she shared: "It's actually really funny cause my managers also manager her. She is doing her thing right now and she is kicking ass, so good for her."

And once Avril leaves Sin City, she's set to celebrate her 28th birthday. So what's the "Here's To Never Growing Up" singer have planned for the big day?

"My husband is in South America for the Rock in Rio [festival] with Nickelback and is flying back to L.A. to meet me for my birthday. He gets in the morning of my birthday. We are going to be together. That's all I want for my birthday, I am really excited!"
