Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran Fought Over Their Duet - Find Out Why!

Taylor Swift wears a peach-colored outfit while heading out of the gym and to her lunch date on Friday afternoon (July 18) in New York City.

The 24-year-old singer recorded a duet with her pal Ed Sheeran called “Everything Has Changed” for her latest album and now he is dishing on a fight that stemmed from the writing process.

“I went to her house, she cooked an apple pie — she cooks really good sh–,” Ed recently said. “She has a little Taylor guitar, she got it out and she’s like, ‘I had this idea for this song,’ … and she pretty much had the verse, bridge and chorus done, but we argued about that one chord — ‘I just want to know you, better know you’ — she didn’t like that, and I kind of forced it upon her.”

“It was quite a funny situation. It’s like [her room is] surrounded by Grammys; she has like seven or eight and like Billboard Awards and Songwriting Guild,” he said, “And I’m like, ‘this chord,’ and she’s like [pointing to her awards].”

Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran perform flirty duet about childhood romance on Britain's Got Talent season finale

If they were worried about fuelling relationship rumours Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran certainly showed no sign of it as they performed a flirty duet on the season finale of Britain's Got Talent.

The Nashville girl was positively beaming as she sang with the ginger haired Suffolk boy about a childhood romance in their co-written song Everything Has Changed, on Saturday's televised episode.

The duo's effortless rendition of the nostalgic song comes after Ed was recently spotted leaving Taylor's hotel room at four in the morning, although he insists they're just friends.

The 23-year-old songstress assumed Ed's signature throaty vocal style for the acoustic set as she kicked off the performance with a series of dramatic hand gestures.

Taylor set her smouldering blues eyes directly into the sight line of the rolling television cameras as she wore her straw coloured hair in a ponytail.

The Love Story singer was pretty in a polka dot summer dress as she clutched her steel stringed guitar while belting out the lyrically complex ballad.

Ed, for his part, appeared more reserved as he strummed his way through the song.

Once it was his turn to take over the lead vocals Taylor hopped over to his microphone, rocking back and forth as he crooned.

With his trademark shaggy 'do covering his pale blue eyes, the 22-year-old wore a blue long sleeve shirt and baggy jeans as his glamorous partner stood tall in heeled dancing shoes.

Once the rendition was completed Taylor said: 'That song was from my album.'

To which presenters Ant and Dec replied, 'What did you think of the final?' referring to the completion of the BGT season.

Taylor said, 'It was amazing. We have our favourites – I’m obsessed with Attraction and Pre-Skool,' as Ed added, ‘I really like Jordan.’

Taylor would have been pleased as punch when shadow theatre group Attraction won the competition.

In the official music video for Everything Has Changed the duo enlisted a couple of cute mini-me lookalike children to play out their lyrical storyline.

The children enact the words of the song, about a boy and girl blossoming into something romantic before everything starts changing.

Throughout the stars throw in hints of themselves, from the girlie dresses worn by the young Taylor Swift lookalike, to Ed's mini-me playing guitar to the girl in a music lesson as the rest of the children run riot.

In a twist at the end, both Taylor and Ed turn up to the school separately to pick up the children and act as each child's parent.

The boy comes running into Sheeran's tattooed arms, while the girl is greeted by Taylor, before they are taken home.

Both Ed and Taylor catch each other's eyes at the school gate and smile at each other before walking off separately.

The pair have previously been romantically linked with speculation mounting over the status of their relationship.

However despite the pair seeming very close, with Ed even having a tattoo tribute to the pretty blonde, he insists they are just friends.

The romance rumours were cranked up a notch recently after he was spotting leaving her hotel room in the early hours.

Speaking about that night, which took place before the Brit awards, in an interview for New Zealand broadcaster TVNZ, Sheeran said: 'I did go to her hotel, I did stay there 'til four and I did leave in the same clothes.

'But I was playing her my new record. It was strictly that kind of thing.

'Literally, I went in there and we passed the guitar back and forth and played songs to each other.'
Asked whether he stole a kiss he responded: 'I'm a professional.'

He continued: 'The thing that impressed me with the media is that because they wrote about it, my mates believed it.

'And my mates are texting me being like 'is it true?' so I said it wasn't but the fact that people can believe it makes me feel like a bit of a stud, you know?

'I've got to be honest because one of my best friends did date her. I'm not that kind of guy. But the fact that people believed it impressed me a little bit.'

And he pointed out it would be foolhardy to date Swift because they were due to travel together for her Red Tour across the U.S.

'Six months on the road with someone, that could get a bit awkward.'

Taylor Swift Had Ed Sheeran On 'Really, Really Small List' Of Dream Collabos

Taylor Swift has proven over her six-year career that she can not only pen a hit track, but she can bring to life any emotion through her upfront song lyrics.

Yet, what might be most impressive feat is that Swift has, for the most part, done it mostly on her own — until now. With her fourth album, Red, released Monday, Swift teams up with pop producers Max Martin and Shellback, collaborates with Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody on "The Last Time," and teams up with British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran on the much talked-about duet "Everything has Changed."

"I think for me with this album I only collaborated with people that were on that really, really small list of people that I was dying to work with," Swift recently told MTV News. "Absolutely dying to work with." And it seems that folk singer Sheeran was close to the top of that list after Swift heard one of his singles while traveling abroad.

"I was in Australia when I first saw Ed Sheeran's music video for 'Lego House' and I was so blown away by his voice that I found a way to get his album, the entire album, even though it was not on sale in the U.S. yet,' Swift admitted. "And became a huge fan."

Read why Red is the beginning of Taylor Swift's golden age.

Luckily for Swift, Sheeran just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

"At the same time, he ran into someone in the States who was with my management company and mentioned to them that he wanted to work with me," Swift said. "And so when I got that message back I just thought, 'This has to happen, reach out to him right away. I will fly to him. I will go to his show. I don't care. I want to write with him,' and he turned out to be one of the most amazing co-writers and such a great friend."

"Everything has Changed" instantly became a fan favorite upon Red's release and had Swift and Sheeran "freaking out" after they nabbed the top spot on the iTunes single charts on Monday.

Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran Duet 'Everything Has Changed' Leaks Online

Fans might have to wait until October 22 to hear the entirety of Taylor Swift's new album, Red, but they are getting an early listen to her Ed Sheeran duet, "Everything Has Changed." The sweet track, which leaked online days ahead of the album's release on Wednesday night, plays into both singers' sonic sensibilities as it is driven heavily by acoustic guitar. It follows the two performers as they embark of a newfound relationship, telling each other, "I just want to know you better."

By the time the chorus rolls in, it's clear that the love affair is sugary sweet. "All I know is we said, 'Hello'/ And your eyes looked like coming home/ All I know is you said my name/ And everything has changed," they sing. "All I know is you held the door/ You'll be mine and I'll be yours/ All I know since yesterday is/ Everything has changed."

When MTV News caught up with Sheeran recently, he opened up about writing the track with Swift on a trampoline.

"Taylor writes songs in all different situations," Sheeran told MTV News about Swift's quirky songwriting. "I remember we went out. Where did we go? I think we were in the car to the studio and she took her phone out and mumbled something and sort of put it back. And I was like 'What was that?' and she was like 'Oh, I was just singing down ideas.'

"She does that all the time. It's a good way to do it. She's one of very few people left in the industry that actually worries about the songs that she sings, like she actually wants to write them herself," he added. "Which I think is a very positive thing."

On the track, the two were able to make Swift's pop-country sensibilities and Sheeran's folk ones meld, and he explained to MTV News it's because they have a lot in common. "Well, I don't really write so much with other artists," the + singer said. "Like the Taylor session, when we got together and wrote was the second time I've ever gotten with another singer/songwriter and written a song with them. So it wasn't actually too hard of an adjustment. We're very much alike musically and it worked out well, I think."

Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran’s “Everything Has Changed”

Taylor Swift‘s much-anticipated fourth studio album Red has leaked in full, and the song many fans were most eager to hear is her duet with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, “Everything Has Changed.” As expected, the track is a spare, elegant guitar-driven ballad with sweet, lovely vocals from Swift, anchored by emotional lyrics and light harmonies from Sheeran. It sounds as much like a live recording of an acoustic jam session as it does like a studio cut, which provides a nice contrast to the highly produced, slick sound of much of Red.

“All I know is you held the door / You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours / All I know since yesterday is / Everything has changed,” the pair sing together on the chorus. It’s certain to please fans of both artists, and doesn’t disappoint on the promise of their precocious songwriting talents.
