‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 Cast Updates: 14 Actors Returning as Previous Characters, 7 New Stars Join Franchise

American Horror Story season 13 has finally arrived and there are so many former actors returning as some of their fan-favorite character, with many of them taking on multiple roles throughout the season.

The new season is instead being positioned as a major crossover event, with familiar faces and characters returning from throughout the show’s history. One huge star sadly dropped out of the season.

The season kicks off with three episodes on September 24, followed by another three episodes the following week. After that, two episodes will be released each Thursday until the finale. Episodes will air on FX and be available for streaming simultaneously on Hulu and Disney+. Check out the full episode schedule.

Sarah Paulson – Returning!

Sarah Paulson starred in 9 of the first 10 seasons of American Horror Story. This will mark her first time back to the franchise since 2021’s Double Feature.

She will be back as:

• Cordelia Goode from Coven and Apocalypse
• Sally McKenna from Hotel
• Ms. Wilhemina Venable from Apocalypse
• Karen from Double Feature: Red Tide
• Mamie Eisenhower from Double Feature: Death Valley

Evan Peters – Returning!

Evan Peters starred in 9 of the first 10 seasons of American Horror Story. This will mark his first time back to the franchise since 2021’s Double Feature.

He will be back as:

• Tate Langdon from Murder House
• James Patrick March from Hotel
• Kai Anderson from Cult

Angela Bassett – Returning!

Angela Bassett has appeared in five previous seasons of AHS and the last time she was a series regular was season six’s Roanoke.

She’ll be back as Marie Laveau from Coven and Apocalypse.

Ariana Grande‘s scrapped American Horror Story role has been revealed!

The 33-year-old “hate that i made you love me” singer and Wicked actress was originally announced as part of the cast of the FX anthology series’ 13th season, but dropped out over the summer due to scheduling conflicts with her Eternal Sunshine Tour.

Now, series creator Ryan Murphy is revealing what he had planned for Ariana, and it would have involved a major crossover with another one of his shows!

Ariana Grande Would Have Reprised Her Scream Queens Role on AHS

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the American Horror Story: 13 premiere on Wednesday night (September 23), Ryan revealed that he had planned to bring characters from Scream Queens into the new season.

That would have included Ariana reprising her role as Chanel #2!

“It was funny because at one point I was going to have the Scream Queens come on to this season, but Ariana was touring and I couldn’t make it work,” Ryan explained.

Ariana still wanted to make it happen, but Ryan explained that the weekend they needed to film, she was on tour.

Ultimately, the timing didn’t work out, and Ariana did not film any scenes for the new season.

However, Ryan hasn’t completely given up on bringing her back as Chanel #2 in the future.

For those who don’t remember, Ariana appeared in the first season of Scream Queens in 2015. Her character, whose real name was Sonya Herfmann, was one of the Chanels led by Emma Roberts‘ Chanel Oberlin.

The horror-comedy ran for two seasons before being canceled in 2017.

American Horror Story: 13 premieres Thursday night (September 24) at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX.

Ariana Grande & Jonathan Bailey’s ‘Sunday in the Park With George’ Production Canceled for 2027

Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey‘s planned Sunday in the Park With George production is officially no longer moving forward in 2027.

The Wicked co-stars were originally set to reunite onstage in the revival of the Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical at London’s Barbican Centre, but Ariana dropped out in August and Jonathan followed her in September.

At the time, producers stressed that the show would continue without them and said that casting discussions were underway for their replacements.

Now, those plans have changed.

What Happened to Sunday in the Park With George?

Empire Street Productions announced on Monday (September 14) that the planned 2027 production will no longer happen as scheduled.

“The planned 2027 production of Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican will no longer proceed as scheduled,” the company said in a statement.

However, the production might not be gone for good. Empire Street Productions said it will retain the rights “with a view to presenting the production in 2028,” with additional details to be announced.

The news marks a reversal from what producers said following the departures of the production’s two original stars.

When Ariana exited the production in August, producers said the musical would still open in summer 2027 and that her roles of Dot and Marie would be recast.

Then, Jonathan announced on September 1 that he was also leaving the show.

“Ari is one of my dearest friends, and my support for her is unwavering,” he said at the time, adding that he had decided “to also step back” from the production.

Even after Jonathan‘s departure, producers said “work on the production continues” and that casting discussions were actively underway.

The 2027 production was set to be directed by Marianne Elliott, with Ariana playing Dot and Marie opposite Jonathan as George.

Sunday in the Park With George originally opened on Broadway in 1984 with Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin. The musical won the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The event will actually be a live-to-film concert experience with a live symphony orchestra performing the score in sync with the film. There will be separate performances for Wicked and Wicked: For Good.

Are Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande going on tour for Wicked in Concert?

No!

The official website for the concert states, “No. The original film is presented on screen featuring the original cast performances, accompanied by a live orchestra performing the score. The dialogue and vocal performances originally recorded for the film are retained. The live orchestra performs the musical score in sync with the movie, creating an immersive live concert experience.”

“In some instances there will be a choir that sings backing vocals but the original character voices will be heard on screen from the films,” the site added.

If you didn’t know, the 57-year-old Wedding Crashers actor is a dad to three kids – sons Ford, 15, and Finn, 12, and daughter Lyla, 7.

He first welcomed Ford in 2011 with then-girlfriend Jade Duvell before welcoming Finn in 2014 with trainer Caroline Lindqvist. Then in 2018, it was revealed that Owen welcomed his daughter Lyla with Varunie Vongsvirates.

While speaking with E! News about his new movie Runner, Owen revealed which of his movies his kids’ favorite.

“Night at the Museum,” he told the outlet. “My kids kind of liked my little character Jedediah.”

In the 2006 movie, Owen played Jedediah, a tiny, talking cowboy from the American Old West display. He reprised the role in the 2009 sequel Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and the third movie Night at the Museum: The Secret of the Tomb, which was released in 2014.

Later this year, Owen will be returning for Focker-in-Law, starring alongside fellow returning stars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, and newcomer Ariana Grande.

Jonathan has been in Italy for the past several days now attending events during the film festival. For the ninth year, Armani Beauty is the official beauty sponsor for the international film festival, which is running this year from September 2 through September 12.

The 22-year-old rising “Ain’t in LA” pop star released her debut album PRIMA on Friday (September 4), and the new song “Hitachi” is already generating buzz online.

The track is a stripped-down ballad about a relationship that has lost its physical intimacy, but its title might leave some listeners wondering exactly what Adéla is referring to.

The song’s title is a reference to the Hitachi Magic Wand, a massaging device that became widely known for its use as a vibrator.

“There’s a ballad on the album called ‘Hitachi’ that actually starts with a harmony stack,” she explained.

Adéla said that the harmonies serve as the song’s primary instrumentation for roughly the first half of the track before it transitions into her voice accompanied by piano and strings.

She added that she has always loved hearing pop stars take that approach to ballads.

“Those songs to me, even as a kid, like whenever a pop girl would do that, I was like, that’s my song,” she said. “‘Cause I just love hearing a voice.”

For the June 24 show in Austin back, Ariana changed the lyrics to, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now they kinda slap.” One day later, they were seen hanging out together in the Texas city.

At the next show on June 26, Ariana changed the lyrics to, “Wrote some songs about Ricky, I know he still got my back.” He was in the audience and standing next to her parents in the VIP section for this show.

Fast forward to the July 13 show in New York City, Ariana changed the lyrics yet again. “Wrote some songs about Ricky, we always find our way back,” she sang at this show.

Jonathan Bailey has officially exited the West End production of Sunday in the Park with George.

The 38-year-old Bridgerton star was supposed to co-star in the production opposite Ariana Grande. The 2027 production was set for the Barbican Centre in London, but will now undergo some major casting changes. By the way, Ariana was signed on to play the roles of Dot and Marie while Jonathan was playing the title role, George Seurat, all directed by Marianne Elliott.

Ariana dropped out in early August, and now, Jonathan confirmed he will no longer star.

On Instagram Story, he shared, “Ari is one of my dearest friends, and my support for her is unwavering. Marianne is extraordinary and one of my longest collaborators and friends. This brilliant, introspective musical has been a real passion project for me, and I feel incredibly lucky to have shared in its journey with this team. Among many things, the story explores the deep connection between George and Dot, a beautiful, devoted pairing, and I so look forward to seeing what the two actors who will now take on these roles will create with it.”

He added, “I wish the very best to the entire company. I will be cheering them on as they continue with this production. Jonny x.”

The Sunday in the Park with George Instagram also released a statement

The account confirmed they will continue the production without Ariana and Jonathan.

“Following Ariana Grande’s withdrawal, Jonathan Bailey has informed the producers that he has also decided to withdraw from Sunday in the Park with George. Work on the production continues. Casting discussions are actively under way, and the creative team is reshaping the production around a new company while preserving the ambition and artistic integrity of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical. Further casting and production details will be announced in due course,” they wrote.

If you don’t know, Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters originated the roles in the first production on Broadway back in 1984. The most recent production on Broadway happened in 2017 with Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford in the leads. Ariana Grande has suffered a minor injury that will have a small impact on the final two shows of the Eternal Sunshine Tour.

The 33-year-old entertainer took to her Instagram Stories on Monday afternoon (August 31) to explain what she’s currently dealing with and how she’s making changes to the upcoming London concerts.

Ariana is wrapping the tour at London’s O2 Arena with shows on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Ariana Grande explains her injury and changes to the show

Ariana wrote a note to fans revealing that she suffered a “deep cut” on her foot and she cannot wear heels for the final two shows of the tour.

“My sweet petals, I wanted to let you know I will need to be in cozy footwear for this evenings show (and possibly tomorrow’s) as I am bandaged up underneath, recovering from a minor injury. It is not a sprain or anything muscular but just a deep cut!” Ariana began.

She continued, “So when you see me tonight without my signature heels, or even possibly having a little trouble putting weight on that foot, that is why! But please do not fret. On with the show and I am on the mend! I cannot wait to perform for you tonight and tomorrow (even if I am a few inches shorter than usual). I love you always. Two more…”

Ariana recently had a very special guest performing with her at a London show.

Ariana Grande Slams Trump Administration Again for Using Her Music on TikTok

Ariana Grande is once again calling out the Trump administration for using her music without permission.

On Thursday (August 20), Team Trump posted a video on TikTok set to the 33-year-old Grammy-winning singer’s song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” as Trump, 80, participates in the viral trend inspired by the song’s lyrics, “Me and my truth we sit in silence.”

In the video, Trump walks up to a podium at a rally with the text “Men can’t have babies and should never compete in women’s sports” written underneath.

“This shouldn’t be controversial! #trump #arianagrande #maga,” the post’s caption read.

Ariana quickly responded to the video, writing in the comments section, “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false.”

The post has since been taken down from TikTok.

This is now the second time Ariana has publicly slammed the Trump administration for using her music without permission.

Back in June, the White House posted a video of ICE agents arresting and handcuffing people set to her song “Bye.”

She reacted to that post by writing, “Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense.”

Another artist also recently slammed the Trump administration for using her song in a post.

The documentation claims Ariana has spent years trying to identify the alleged people involved, who are reportedly using anonymous accounts and peer-to-peer payment platforms, per TMZ.

Her team has determined the platforms that might have the subscriber and login data that could lead her to identifying the alleged culprits, she claims.

Ariana Grande Claims at Least 45 Songs Were Leaked Alone in 2023

She sued dozens of anonymous John Does in July, claiming they hacked the accounts of photographers and producers associated with Ariana, stealing photos and unreleased recordings, allegedly since 2019.

She’s also claiming at least 45 songs have been stolen and were leaked in 2023 alone.

In personal news, Ariana seemingly got a tattoo to match her on-again boyfriend.
