Justin Bieber 'Drummer Boy' Video: NBA Christmas Opening Day Features Pop Star

Although the past-and-present mashup of the "NBA Forever" video mesmerized hardcore hoops fans watching the Christmas action there was another promotional video that aired during the NBA's opening day that likely was just as captivating -- albeit to a slightly different demographic.

The other video was, of course, Justin Bieber's NBA-themed music video for "Drummer Boy," featuring Busta Rhymes. Befitting its placement amidst the NBA's five-game opening day extravaganza, the footage of Bieber singing and playing the drums is cut with highlights of various NBA stars and fans.

Perhaps Bieber is looking to endear himself to basketball fans in order to avoid a repeat of the time that he was booed at Madison Square Garden during a Knicks game last season.

This NBA-themed music video is hardly Bieber's first foray into sports. In fact, he's been turning up in sporting situations all over the place in recent weeks. After visiting Chelsea FC in London and showing off some of his soccer skills, Bieber laced up a pair of ice skates and hit the ice with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Throughout the video, Bieber can be seen dribbling a basketball and even juggling soccer style.

What will Bieber's next sports outing be? Helmet to hair-do hits with the James Harrison?

Justin Bieber's Under The Mistletoe To Top Billboard

Christmas is coming early for Justin Bieber

Based on early estimates, it looks as if his Under the Mistletoe holiday album will claim the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 with sales in the neighborhood of 200,000 to 225,000 copies.

If those figures hold — and if Bieber can withstand a late charge from rapper Wale's Ambition — it will give the teen-pop sensation his second consecutive #1 debut, following in the footsteps of his My World 2.0 disc, which topped the charts in March 2010 with sales of more than 280,000 copies.

According to industry site HITS Daily Double, with a little more than half of the nation's retailers reporting sales, Mistletoe has already moved more than 150,000 units and holds a 40,000-album lead over Ambition.

And though, in recent days, he's been facing ongoing questions about the paternity suit filed against him by a 20-year-old woman, Bieber has been promoting Under the Mistletoe hard, logging a string of high-profile appearances that included premiering the video for the first single, "Mistletoe," live on MTV as well as interviews and performances on NBC's "Today" show, "Dancing With the Stars" and "The X Factor."

He also announced the formation of his Believe Charity Drive — he'll donate portions of the sales of Mistletoe to a spate of charitable organizations — and shot a pair of new videos for tracks on the album, including a "classic" clip with Mariah Carey on a version of her "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and a team-up with Boyz II Men on "Fa La La."

Justin Bieber: Comedy with Will Ferrell, Please.

Look at all that sparkle on the new single art for Justin Bieber and Usher’s holiday collaboration, “The Christmas Song”.

The next single off of the 17-year-old’s holiday album will drop Monday, October 24th — be on the look out on iTunes!

Justin recently sat down for a chat with MTV about whats coming next after this album. Check it:

On what his schedule really looks like: “What’s happening is: get off this tour, and then my [holiday] album’s coming out, so I have to go back out and promote that album … and then after that … it’s almost time for my next album, so then everything starts over again.”

On a possible movie career: “Hopefully next summer I can start on a movie or something. [I want] to do a comedy with Will Ferrell, like play his son or something like that.”

On his next album: “I’m trying to create a new sound that people aren’t really used to hearing, so it might sound weird at first, but it’s going to be like when Justin Timberlake did FutureSex/LoveSounds: It was a new sound … acoustic guitar over hard drums.”

On staying true to his fanbase: “I want to find something that’s going to suit me and my fans are going to love and older people will like and younger people will like. But I’m always trying to keep my core fanbase, because the young people are what make everything cool. Old people look to young people, so trying to keep everyone happy.”

Justin Bieber 'Has His Head On Straight'

Justin Bieber is bridging the generation gap with his star-studded holiday album, Under the Mistletoe. He's collaborated with a string of stars like Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes and Usher for the November 1 LP. But it's the Biebs' pairing with Boyz II Men that's sure to expand the teen star's fanbase.

We spoke to BIIM's Nate Morris via Skype during our special "MTV First: Justin Bieber" this week, and he shared his thoughts on the young singer as well as their holiday collabo "Falalalala."

"We respect him, man," the R&B crooner told MTV News' James Montgomery. "I watch what he does, I watch what the people around him do, and they're guiding him in the right directions. You don't hear anything bad about this guy. He has his head on straight."

JB's team includes his mother, Pattie, who Morris said clearly has Bieber's best interests at heart. "His mom has got his focus in the right direction and as long as she does that, he'll be just fine," he added.

So will Boyz II Men head to the studio again with the pop superstar? Morris was optimistic, saying, "Oh, without a doubt. We just have to figure out the right circumstance. This was perfect for us because, you know, we wanted to try to make sure that the first song we did together was something that people could accept the two artists doing together. ... If there's a soundtrack or whatever that comes along that we can create something special, that'll be hot."

BIIM's team-up with JB is just one of many treats the group has planned for their comeback. On October 25, they're set to drop Twenty, a new double-disc set that features both brand-new tracks and re-recorded classics.

"It's a collection of our best work, we think," Morris admitted. "I mean, 20 years is a long time to be in this business, so we tried to encompass a little bit of everything. ...We wanted to bring everything together all on one [album] even for those young Bieber fans who may not know all the Boyz II Men records — they can get all the history and today's music on one CD."

Justin Bieber Hopes People 'Remember' Under The Mistletoe

Justin Bieber managed to deck the halls and stack the decks when it came to collaborations for his November 1 holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, with everyone from Mariah Carey and Usher to Boyz II Men and the Band Perry — and even Busta Rhymes! — popping up on the record.

And some of those collaborators are even behind the idea for Bieber making a Christmas album in the first place, as he revealed to us during Tuesday's "MTV First" premiere of his "Mistletoe" video.

"I love Boyz II Men's Christmas album, I love Mariah Carey's Christmas album, and luckily enough, I got them both on my album," he said. "So that was amazing. I wanted to make a Christmas album that everyone would remember. Those are albums that people remember, so to have them be able to collaborate with me was incredible."

Another collabo Bieber is excited about is his version of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)" with mentor Usher, which he revealed Wednesday (October 19) on Facebook would be the next single to arrive. Bieber thanked his fans for their support of the "Mistletoe" video, writing, "u guys got it to #1 worldwide. ... and next tuesday we are putting out THE CHRISTMAS SONG (Chesnuts) with Usher!!"

The song is a mixed bag of original tunes as well as brand-new songs Bieber hopes will one day become classics. "I just picked my favorite Christmas songs. I picked 'Silent Night,' I picked 'Santa [Claus Is] Coming to Town,' because everyone loves those songs. Those are classics," he said. "They get people excited for Christmas," he continued. "And then, for songs that we wrote, we wanted to make enough new songs for people to hear new music and not just hear some classics. There's a lot of new stuff on there."

Considering that the holidays are the perfect time to give back, portions of the sales from the album will go to charities like Pencils of Promise and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. But Bieber isn't waiting until then to give back: "We donated $10,000 to the food bank where I grew up, and I used to actually get food from there," he said. "It was an incredible feeling, just because they were needing a lot of stuff, and it made me feel good."

Justin Bieber Marvels At Mariah Carey Christmas Collab

Justin Bieber's upcoming Under the Mistletoe album -- you know, the one powered by Christmas cookies and promoted by the first single, "Mistletoe" -- also features more than its fair share of eye-opening collaborations.

That's counting Bieber's mentor Usher (who appears on a version of "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire"), Boyz II Men, the Band Perry and, rather amazingly, Busta Rhymes, who teams up with JB on an updated take of "Little Drummer Boy."

As Bieber told MTV News during the live stream that followed the premiere of his "Mistletoe" video, the Busta collaboration is one he'll always remember ... mostly because he considers it to be quite brilliant.

"If you really think about it, it's genius, because it's rapping on a Christmas album ... and, like, I'm rapping on it. And then it's singing," he explained. "It's cool. [Busta's] got, like, a percussive voice to him [and] the beat was so crazy. I'm actually playing drums on that song, playing the snare."

And then, of course, there's his collabo with none other than Mariah Carey, on a version of her instant-classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You." If you thought he was blown away by his Busta team-up, well, you haven't heard anything yet. And he owes it all to none other than Randy Jackson.

"Mariah Carey is doing it with me! It's incredible. So excited," he said of "All I Want." "We wanted Mariah from the beginning, but we kind of thought it was really hard, so we didn't really push the idea. But she's on my label, so we reached out to some people, she got in contact with us, and Randy Jackson was actually at the studio with us, and I was like, 'Yo, you think you can help get Mariah on the Christmas album?' And he was like, 'I'm actually going to see her in New York on Monday,' and I was like 'Yo, go do that!' "

One week leading to the release of his new single "Mistletoe", Justin Bieber unleashes its official cover art on Twitter. It depicts a close-up look at the Canadian pop sensation as he looks straight to the camera. "We r going 4 our first #1 single on ITUNES!! spread the word!" he tweets.

The picture has similar theme with the one which serves as an artwork for "Under the Mistletoe", the upcoming holiday album where the Christmas song is going to appear. He's snapped wearing a black leather jacket. Glittery name tag is attached on it, and snowflakes fall all over him.

"Mistletoe" was showcased for the very first time live during Justin's live concert at Engenhao Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The sweet reggae tune is going to be made available for purchase later this month on date 17. It's then going to be followed by the release of the album on November 1.

Justin Bieber Previews 'Mistletoe' On Tour

Christmas came early for Justin Bieber fans in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Wednesday night. The teen star played his forthcoming Christmas song "Mistletoe" for his adoring fans abroad.

The singer, who is currently on tour in South America, finally gave fans an idea of what his November 1 release, Under the Mistletoe, will sound like.

In footage posted at DirectLyrics, Bieber told the crowd, "This is the first time anywhere in the world that I'm playing this, so this is special. This is just for you."

The song opens with jingling bells before a guitar and bongos kick in for the reggae-laced holiday tune, with Bieber singing, "It's the most beautiful time of the year." This marks the first preview of Bieber's holiday album. Later in the song he sings, "Word on the street's that he's coming tonight/ Reindeers flying through the sky so high."

Things get a bit more romantic when he sings, "Under the mistletoe with you/ Shorty, with you/ With you/ Under the mistletoe." The song is full of holidayisms, like when Bieber sings, "Gathering around the fire/ Chestnuts roasting like a hot July/ I should be playing in the winter snow/ But I will be under the mistletoe/ With you."

He also keeps it sweet when he sings, "I don't want to miss out on the holiday/ But I can't stop staring at your face/ I should be playing in the winter snow/ But I will be under the mistletoe/ With you."

After the show, Bieber tweeted, "That crowd was RIGHT TONIGHT!!! RIO WENT HARD!! CRAZY SHOW and ENERGY TONIGHT. SOLD OUT STADIUM STATUS!!! BRAZIL!!!! #HYPED oh yeah ... and i sang a little bit of #Mistletoe tonight."

The single officially drops October 18. Bieber shot a video for "Mistletoe" late last month. The album itself will feature collaborations with Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Usher, the Band Perry and Busta Rhymes.
