One Direction Break Michael Jackson's UK Record for Music DVD Sales

One Direction have reportedly broken Michael Jackson‘s record for first day sales of a music DVD in the UK!

The guys — Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan — sold 170,000 DVD/Blu-ray copies the day of it’s release, according to the Official Charts Company.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It DVD release previously held the record for the most first day sales in the UK for it’s 109,000 copies sold.

Another One Direction: This Is Us bonus clip...and it's too cute, as the guys weigh in on Harry Styles and Niall Horan.

Can you feel the love?

Move past some of the previously seen footage of how Liam got his "daddy" reputation, Louis just all around making life more enjoyable, and Zayn being a total sweetheart who loves to sleep.

The lovefest carries on, with Zayn saying of Hazza: "You've got Harry, who's like, perfect popstar, just born for it."

Liam adds his perspective of Harry as well, noting, "He just likes to go out and have a good time and doesn't want to waste a moment."

Louis says of Harry: "He's definitely very charming. Harry just pulls it out the bag every time."

Louis adds that Harry and Niall "lift the mood of the band."

And, on the subject of Niall, they all agree he's "happy go lucky," "carefree" and "loves life."

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson Reveals Past Feud With Bandmate Liam Payne

As it turns out, One Direction wasn't heading in the same direction when they first formed as a band.

In a bonus clip featured on the British group This Is Us documentary DVD, bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne confess to actually hating each other when Simon Cowell put the boy band together when all five members failed to make it to the next round of U.K's The X Factor.



"We used to be at each other's throats while we were on The X Factor," Tomlinson says. "He took it so, so seriously. But whenever I wanted to do anything slightly mischievous, he was always the daddy."

"Me and Louis did not get on at all," Payne explains. "We were two completely different characters. He was really loud and bubbly. There was one point where I was just like I literally wanted to whack him."

Despite their differences, the boys eventually made nice -- even getting Payne to relax and forget about his "Daddy Directioner" duties.

Zayn Malik adds, "Daddy of the group. He used to be anyway, but we've corrupted him a little bit."

One Direction: This Is Us glimpses at a horrific reality

This film is, in its own way, a horror story. It's the tale of five teenage boys from Britain who went to an audition one night and never came home.

They went as individuals hoping to make it the the next round of TV's X-Factor. Instead, they were transformed – thrown together, made over into a boy band, given the name One Direction and launched into extraordinary, worldwide musical success on a juggernaut that shows no obvious signs of slowing down.

For the parents of Zayn, Niall, Louis, Liam and Harry, there is definitely a sense of loss, amidst all the other emotions they express. "He's the only feller in the family, and now he's gone," says Liam's dad, who looks genuinely stricken.

Niall and Harry's mum go on an expedition to buy life-size cutouts of their boys – after all, the band is on a round-the-world tour with no end in sight, and there's another lot of stadium gigs announced for 2014. They're not going to be at home much.

One Direction: This Is Us is directed by Morgan Spurlock, of Super Size Me fame, and it's a film for the fans that comes with a few extra neat touches.

He gives us the hype, the hi-jinks, the origins story, the fiendish marketing wizardry of Simon Cowell, and the contrasting personalities of the boys: he pretty much ignores the music, and how their songs are written and produced, and there's nothing about their privates lives beyond family.

Much of it feels staged or contrived, yet at the same time the film feels as if reflects the situation the band members (and their families) see themselves in.

But for the most part, it's a cheerful collage of elements, of concert performances, backstage malarkey, crazy events on the road, surreal moments of fandom, with a bit of an If It's Tuesday This Must Be Belgium feeling, as they head from one city to the next.

Spurlock brings out their differences in various ways. Liam seems to be the most philosophical; he thinks that life for him might be a bit of a backwards Benjamin Button-style situation, in which normal life comes after fame. Harry reckons he's prepared to keep doing what he's doing till he's Keith Richards.

Some moments seem a little forced; like when the cameras record Zayn's mum getting the keys to the house he's bought her and, on the other side of the world, capture him taking her phone call to say how much she loves it.

There are prank scenes that have their revealing moments; for example, those in which Niall disguises himself as a hairy security guard. He looks like a pint-sized Hagrid, and he takes full advantage of his anonymity as he shows fans to their seats; he either feigns ignorance of their names or tells them the band is rubbish. It's playing around with something several of them have discussed: the thought and fear that their celebrity defines them.

One Direction: This Is Us extended cut to be released in UK cinemas

An extended version of One Direction: This Is Us will be released in UK cinemas this Friday.

The longer cut, which features new footage and four new songs, was previously only available to watch in the US and Canada.

But now it is coming out in UK cinemas after fans around the world complained about its limited release.

Jeff Blake, Chairman of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures, said: ‘We’re overwhelmed by the response to the film, so we’re thrilled to be able to release this extended cut of the film for One Direction fans.’

One Direction: This Is Us follows Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis’ rise to fame after starting out on The X Factor.

The documentary, directed by Morgan Spurlock, has already taken an estimated $58 million at the worldwide box office.

Producer Simon Cowell has already expressed an interest in making a sequel to the 3D film.

Bruce and Kendall Jenner See 'One Direction: This Is Us' Together

How sweet is this?

Kendall Jenner went to see the One Direction: This Is Us movie this week and her date was none other than her dad, Bruce Jenner.

According to the Daily Mail, while the two watched the movie together, Kendall apparently ditched dad afterwards as they headed off in separate cars--although that might just mean they met there and were just both heading home.

Still, we think it's cute that Kendall doesn't think she's too cool to hang out with good ol' dad.

Fun fact: Niall Horan recently revealed that Kendall Jenner was his secret celebrity crush, saying, "She's so cute and I'm a sucker for nice eyes!"

Aw! They would make such a cute couple--but, last we heard, Kendall had a boyfriend. Sorry, Niall!

'One Direction: This Is Us' Movie Sequel Planned?

Following the smoking hot success of One Direction: This Is Us, is a 1D movie sequel in the works?

That's exactly the question Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne were asked last week.

It's a no-brainer that One Direction would follow up their movie with a sequel--who doesn't want to see more behind-the-scenes action of the guys on their upcoming "Where We Are" world tour?

While nothing has been confirmed, the movie's director, Morgan Spurlock, would be up for the challenge, but wants to bring an additional sensory experience to the mix--smell.

He joked, "In 4-D, this one will be in smell-a-vision. 'Cause the boys, they smell like unicorns and rainbows, you can't see that in the movie."

The guys are taking the sequel talk just as seriously, with Liam noting, "We want to do a spoof version," adding, "Like a zombie version, 'That Wasn't Us.' "

Louis said the first movie was lacking when it came to one of the guys, saying the sequel would have "more of Niall's nips...and definitely some more American and Australian tour stuff 'cause we didn't actually have the time to film that."

Liam summed up the film nicely: "A zombie film that will start in Australia with Niall's zombie nips."

We'll be buying a ticket to see that (and smell the unicorns and rainbows, of course).

One Direction’s Concert Doc: Better Than Katy Perry, Worse Than Justin Bieber

Look, I’m just the messenger here.
After weeks of promotion and buzz, One Direction’s 3-D concert film One Direction: This is Us pulled in an estimated $17 million over the first three days of the four-day Labor Day weekend. Measured against the non-holiday opening three-day grosses for the recent micro-genre of theatrical concert movies (most of which have been released in 3-D), that puts Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry, and Louis smack in the middle of the pack, behind the concert films for Miley Cyrus (a.k.a. Hannah Montana), Justin Bieber, and Michael Jackson, but ahead of the films for the Jonas Brothers, Katy Perry, and the cast of Glee. (The figures are a bit worse for 1D if you factor in the per theater average, which reflects roughly how full each theater actually was.)

There are couple caveats here: It is impossible to know how many folks holding out to see One Direction: This is Us until Labor Day itself would have seen it earlier had Monday not been a holiday. (Don’t worry, 1D fans: I will update this post tomorrow with the full four-day figures.) And both the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus film and the Michael Jackson film were billed as limited runs, giving fans more of an imperative to race out to see the film on its opening weekend before it left theaters. (Of course, both films ended up extending their runs beyond their short engagements after their initial box office proved so lucrative.)
Still, given the rabid fervor of 1D fans online, this result is perhaps a bit surprising. Here is how the numbers break down:

1. Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour
Opening weekend: $31.1 million (in 683 theaters)
Per theater average: $45,600

2. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never
Opening weekend: $29.5 million (in 3,105 theaters)

3. Michael Jackson’s This Is It
Opening weekend: $23.2 million (in 3,481 theaters)
Per theater average: $6,700

4. One Direction: This is Us
Opening weekend: An estimated $17 million (in 2,735 theaters)
Per theater average: $6,200

5. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience
Opening weekend: $12.5 million (in 1,271 theaters)
Per theater average: $9,800

6. Katy Perry: Part of Me
Opening weekend: $7.1 million (in 2,730 theaters)

One Direction's 'This Is Us' Tops Weekend Box Office!

Good news for One Direction – their documentary This Is Us is set to take the #1 spot at the box office during the Labor Day holiday weekend!

The flick, which stars 1D‘s Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, took an early lead with an estimated $20.5 million in just four days.

According to Variety, the flick is already a major success considering it only cost around $10 million to make.

1D Promise Topless Scenes in 'This Is Us' on 'AGT'

"They are going crazy in Radio City," Nick Cannon shouted following One Direction''s performance on America's Got Talent at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Once again Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan delighted fans by singing their latest hit, "Best Song Ever."

After their electric performance, the boys were joined by on stage to answer a few questions about their new movie This Is Us, which hits theaters on Aug. 30.

Nick asked about how far the film takes fans behind the scenes of One Direction. Harry answered, "I think this is a great chance for the fans to see what they want to see." Nick followed up, "What are we going to see--are you all going to be wild-n-out?"

Zayn joked, "We'll try!" And added, "There are plenty of topless scenes, though." A shocked Nick shouted, "Topless scenes?!" as the crowd went wild again.

The Voice winner, Cassadee Pope, performed her new single, "Wasting All These Tears" on AGT before One Direction took the stage. Yesterday was also Cassadee's birthday, so we wonder whether she got a birthday gift from the 1D lads, or better yet, a kiss from Harry?

Guess Which 1D Guy Invited Kendall Schmidt to Their Movie Premiere

It is crazy to think that it has been about a year and a half since One Direction went on tour and opened for Big Time Rush, but it's nice to know that the two boy bands are still friends.

We caught up with Kendall Schmidt of Big Time Rush at the 1D boys' premiere of This is Us in NYC.

Kendall told us about the craziness that surrounds 1D and being friends with Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. "Honestly, Niall has always been really cool to me and has always kept in touch. He invited me to come [to the This is Us premiere], so I am here," Kendall said. Check out the video above to find out Kendall's favorite 1D song, which is one of their lesser-known hits.

Remarkably, Kendall said he was looking forward to seeing the One Direction performance in the film because "I've actually never seen [this] show, and so yeah I'll get to see some of their performances." He clarified, "Besides the one when we went on tour together--I saw those shows--but the show now is a whole different show than it was back then."
