Taylor Swift has done it!!
According to Billboard, the 20-year-old has sold over 1 million copies of her junior album, Speak Now. It will top the charts after selling 1,047,000 copies.
It’s the largest sales week for an album since 50 Cent’s The Massacre sold 1,141,000 in March of 2005. It even beat out Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, which was the last album to sell over a million in 2008 (It sold 1,006,000 in June of 2008). Since 1991, only 16 albums have sold over a million in one week. NSYNC still holds with record with 2,416,000 sold in the first week.
Speak Now has the second-largest sales week of any country album since 1991 and it’s also the biggest sales week of any female country act since 1991. It’s also had the biggest week for any album by a woman, regardless of genre, since Britney Spears in 2000.
