Taylor Swift became the youngest ever songwriter awarded the BMI Songwriter of the Year Award at the BMI Awards on Tuesday night.
Swift, who also won the Country Song of the Year Award with Liz Rose for "You Belong With Me," is also the first songwriter to win the award for three consecutive years. She was honored on the basis of her songs "Fifteen," "White Horse," "You Belong With Me," and "Best Days Of Your Life" (which was recorded by Kellie Pickler).
Said Swift, who attended a friend's funeral on Monday, when she accepted the honor, "It's been a really emotional week for me."
Her latest album, Speak Now, netted the biggest debut week of any album since 2005. It remained at the top of the Billboard 200 for last week.
