Selena Gomez Cancels Australian Tour to 'Spend Some Time on Myself'

Selena Gomez has canceled her Australian tour next year, saying that she needs to focus on herself.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," the singer says in a statement. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

A rep for Gomez, 21, confirmed the news to PEOPLE.

A source close to the singer says there's nothing to be worried about: "Selena is fine, she's in a great space," the source says. "She's looking forward to spending the holidays with her family."

Gomez has recently played 55 dates across the U.S. and in Europe with her Stars Dance tour, which ended on Nov. 26.

"She's been on the road for six months and she's just ready to be normal and at home with her family," the source says. "She's been working nonstop since she was 15 and wants to take a minute to herself."

Selena Gomez Falls Down On Stage (WATCH!)

Selena Gomez had an epic fail when she fell down at her recent show in Fairfax, Va.!

It all went down on Oct. 10 when Sel was performing at her concert and singing her hit song "Slow Down". From what we can see in the audience-taped footage, Sel tripped up on her foot as she was jumping up and down during her dance routine and fell down pretty hard.



Like a pro, Selena hopped back up and kept dancing and singing after her fall. It didn't go unnoticed though! A bodyguard/security stepped up on the stage to assist and help her up. Embarrassing!

Selena Gomez Causes Fan Frenzy In Paris With 'Stars Dance Tour'

Selena Gomez clearly has an incredible fan base around the world as is proven by the recent images of her adoring fans outside her concert in Paris, the latest stop on her acclaimed 'Stars Dance' tour.

The 'Come & Get It' singer is in the midst of the European leg of the trek which has so far, seen her perform in Amsterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm, in addition to a string of dates across Canada.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated stops on the tour, Selena finally landed in Paris, the city of love, last night and following on with what has been routine on the jaunt so far, Selena ventured outside the gates of the venue to pose with a group of fans all of whom were eager to get photos with the star.

In the series of photos, the 21-year-old can be seen standing on side of the fence pulling a pout for the camera while her Selanators gather in their droves behind her.

The pretty singer will be arriving in London tomorrow evening where she will play two special dates at Hammersmith Apollo, performing songs from her latest album 'Stars Dance,' including the chart-topping 'Come & Get It,' 'Slow Down' and 'Love Will Remember.'

Aside from the music, Selena has also been promoting her latest movie 'Getaway' but unfortunately for the actress, the flick has completely bombed with critics after receiving a low scoring on aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Speaking to the New York Daily News, the 'Come & Get It' babe admitted she finds it hard to ignore gossip.

"It does get to me," she confessed. “I'm a human and I feel those emotions of when people talk about you. It's never a good feeling ‘cause half the time it's just bull, it's not real."

"In the real world I'll drive my car to the grocery store and buy myself some food. “In the media world it's like, 'Oohhh, I drive my car to go somewhere secretive.' It gets too clouded so I just have good people around me.

“I'm very picky,” she admitted. “The hardest part [is] just trying to find someone that will just love the core person and not anything else around it.”

She started out her career as a wholesome Disney girl at the tender age of 10.

But Selena Gomez was a far cry from her former image as she kicked off the first night of her eagerly-awaited Stars Dance tour in Vancouver on Wednesday night.

Wearing white harem pants and a white, embellished bra top, the 21-year-old proved that she's certainly made the transition to fully-fledged pop star.

The singer, who recently admitted to being nervous about the 58-date tour, certainly didn't seem it as she strutted across the stage at the Rogers Arena in Canada.

And her racy and slightly avant-garde outfit showed that she'd come a long way from her Disney days, showing off her toned midriff as she performed hits from her new album.

Selena wore her trademark dark hair long and poker straight as she jumped around the stage, adding a splash of dark red lipstick.

The Come And Get It singer decided on an all-white stage outfit - just like her on/off boyfriend Justin Bieber - and whipped off her long, white coat to reveal the harem pants and cropped top.

She added a pair of wedge high-top trainers and she seemed able to dance around the stage with ease, despite admitting that she was worried about the routines.

'I think the dancing is what I'm most nervous about because I'm such a perfectionist,' she told MTV earlier in the week.

Selena Gomez's Stars Dance World Tour Choreography

In just one day Selena Gomez will show her fans what she has been working two months to perfect: her Stars Dance World Tour.

The "Come & Get It" singer kicks off the 56-city global tour on Wednesday and even though she's been rehearsing her songs, wardrobe changes and lighting non-stop, there is one thing she admits she's a bit nervous about come opening night.

"I think the dancing is what I'm most nervous about because I'm such a perfectionist," Gomez said at her final dress rehearsal at Citizen's Bank Arena in Ontario, California. "And two of my best friends are actually on that stage with me that are dancers and have been dancing for years so I want to keep up with them and that's been something that's been challenging. It's great and I feel like I've been working out, which I feel I need to do more of.

Gomez rehearsed for eight hours a day learning all different styles of dance with choreographers Fatima Robinson and Charm, who has worked with several A-list artists including The Black Eyed Peas and other Disney stars like Zendaya and Bella Thorne.

"I think the moves have really just grown with the way her music has grown," Robinson said. "We're just trying to keep up with the times and make her music, like with all artists, make them grow along with their music and she's definitely, definitely had growth with this album."

Charm and Robinson, who say that "Whiplash" and "B.E.A.T" are their favorite numbers, can't take all the credit for moves that will be seen onstage, since Gomez made it a point on this tour to take some control.

"I think the main thing is she has definitely gotten out of the box on this tour and she's been more involved in what the content looks like, what the lighting looks like, what the music is going to sound like," Robinson said. "You know she's picked covers, really great covers. When you come see the show you'll be very surprised to hear her sing some of the songs she's going to sing. Her voice is so amazing on some of these songs. Even I was in shock on how amazing this girl's voice is so it's going to be a great show and it's a lot of surprises in the show."
