Taylor Swift Dating: 'Red' Singer Offers Love Advice In Seventeen Magazine

Taylor Swift's "Red" is the ultimate relationship album. From powering through break-ups ("We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together") to finding new love after being burned ("Begin Again"), Taylor knows a thing or two about dating. She's like your cool, older friend whose advice you can always trust. This month, she's taking over Seventeen's love column to dish her best relationship tips for three tricky situations.

If you're stuck in the friend zone, Taylor says, “Remember that people have to fall in love with you because they want to, not because you want them to. Don’t chance ruining your friendship by chasing him before he’s ready. You just have to wait for him to turn it into something more, if and when he wants to.”

Not sure if your crush is really worth going after? She advises, “Deciding not to play games is the best way to go because it keeps things simple: If he messes it up by playing around with your heart, you’ll know he doesn’t deserve you. You were real with him, and he didn’t return the courtesy. Someone else will!”

And finally, how do you know when your relationship is over for good? The "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer knows firsthand how frustrating the situation can be. She suggests, “If you get into the habit of hiding your breakups and makeups from your friends and family because they roll their eyes at you, or no one can ever keep it straight if you guys are together or not…congratulations. You’re in an on-again, off-again relationship that’s gone on for way too long, and its time to end it for good!”

With a slew of high-profile relationships behind her, Taylor speaks from experience. Most recently, the star split from Conor Kennedy. A source blamed her busy schedule as the reason behind the breakup.

One Direction Covers 'Seventeen' November 2012

Check out this fun shot from One Direction‘s November 2012 Seventeen mag cover story!

Out on October 16th, the guys — Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan — chat all about their upcoming album, girls and reputations. Check it:

Harry on being seen as the ‘girl-crazy’ one: “I wouldn’t say girl-crazy, because that makes me sound like a bit of a womanizer. That isn’t really me. But I am quite flirty—maybe too flirty. I’m an 18-year-old boy, and I like to have fun!”

Niall on Demi Lovato: “The nice thing about Demi is, once you know her, she’s really, really beautiful. We became good friends. It’s so crazy that she can be so honest about everything she’s gone through. She has a fantastic attitude. If I ever needed anything or needed to talk to anybody, I think Demi would be the person to talk to.”

Liam on dealing with bullies when he was young: “I was bullied by a few people who were much older than me. I went to camp to learn boxing. I was 12, and my coach was 24. I felt like if I could fight him, I could stand up to anyone.”

Zayn on his rep as the ‘bad boy’ of the band: “I like to use the term misunderstood. But I am a bit of a bad boy. I have tattoos and I mess around. That’s part of my image, so it’s cool.”

Louis on the most embarrassing thing that has happened to him since One Direction became so big: “One time Harry and I were skiing together when a girl and a guy came up with a camera. We assumed they were going to ask us for a photo, so we stood there with our arms around each other, posing. They said, ‘No, we want you to take a photo of us!’ It was embarrassing!”

Demi Lovato Covers 'Seventeen' February 2012

Demi Lovato beads it up on the February 2012 cover of Seventeen magazine.

The 19-year-old musician opened up to the magazine about the two people who kept by her side during tough times.

Demi shared, “There were two people [who were there for me]. No matter how many times we fight, we will always be in each others’ lives. [Miley Cyrus and I] are very strong-headed, so when we fight, it’s brutal and we’re like, ‘We’re never going to be friends again!’ Then two days later, we’re like, ‘I love you and I miss you!’”

“Selena [Gomez] and I, we never fight. She’s not a confrontational person at all. Both of them will never leave my life no matter what happens, because we’ve been through so much together,” Demi added of her BFF.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS: Demi is signing copies of her cover TODAY at Barnes & Noble at the Americana in Glendale! Get there early, buy a copy and get a wristband. It all starts at 6PM

Demi Lovato ‘My Battle with Eating Disorders’

Disney star Demi Lovato has opened up at Seventeen about her eating disorders, letting girls everywhere know that they aren’t alone.

Demi wrote, “I started compulsively overeating at a very young age. And then I almost stopped eating altogether at the age of 12, after being harassed by kids at school, for being “fat”. My eating disorder will continue to affect me for the rest of my life, but I’m proud to say that I got the help I needed, and am now the happiest and healthiest I have ever been!

Eating disorders are serious and complex problems that affect millions of young men and women all over the world. But so many people don’t actually understand them. For example, it’s a common misconception that eating disorders are just about food. But they’re actually about so much more than that.

Eating disorders often stem from feelings of low self esteem, depression, anxiety, or in my case, being teased and ridiculed for my weight. I also believe that a big contributing factor to these feelings is the pressure that’s out there to meet impossible standards.

This is why I’m so proud of my partnership with the Jed Foundation for the Love Is Louder Than the Pressure To Be Perfect Campaign. Through the campaign we encourage everyone to love who they are and embrace the so-called “flaws” that actually make each of us unique.

If you or someone you know if suffering from an eating disorder, it’s important to speak up and seek professional help. There are a lot of great websites out there with tips on how to deal, and more information about the disease. A great one that I recommend is The National Eating Disorders Association.

You can get help, and you can feel better.

STAY STRONG.

Love,

Demi Lovato”

DEMI LOVATO SHARES SOME INSPIRATIONAL READING IN SEVENTEEN

Demi Lovato is continuing her series of stories as a guest blogger for Seventeen with a post about some inspiring literature. During her latest blog post, Lovato wrote about New York Times-bestselling book ‘A Piece of Cake’ by Cupcake Brown (yes, that’s the author’s real name).

“Her story challenged me to look at my own life with new perspective, and made me reflect on how much I have to be thankful for,” Lovato says of the Cupcake Brown memoir. “This book reminds me that life isn’t about the obstacles that stand in your way. It’s about what you do to overcome those obstacles, and how you pick yourself up afterward. That’s what really matters.”

Brown wrote ‘A Piece of Cake’ about her own harrowing life experiences. Brown was orphaned at age 11 when her mother died, and the California native spent her days bouncing between relatives and foster homes. After enduring years of sexual and physical assault, drug use, and prostitution, Brown was able to turn her life around and become a lawyer and, now, critically-acclaimed author.

Lovato, who has had to face her own demons, also writes, “I recently went through a rough time in my own life and I admire Cupcake for sharing her story with the world — she’s truly an inspiration to me, and to millions of other women out there. Remember, when life gets tough, STAY STRONG.”

Demi Lovato: "read this inspiring book: piece of cake"

I read a really inspiring book recently called Piece of Cake, by Cupcake Brown. Her story challenged me to look at my own life with new perspective, and made me reflect on how much I have to be thankful for. This book reminds me that life isn’t about the obstacles that stand in your way. It’s about what you do to overcome those obstacles, and how you pick yourself up afterward. That’s what really matters. To borrow a quote from Cupcake’s website:

"Her story is also about choices—good ones and bad ones— and about the possibilities that are there if only we "Pray, trust, work hard, and grab hold!" Most people would have been daunted by the hurdles she faced, but despite enormous fear and grave self-doubt, Cupcake grabbed a hold, prayed, and held on for dear life as she learned that there was another way—a better way."

I recently went through a rough time in my own life and I admire Cupcake for sharing her story with the world—she's truly an inspiration to me, and to millions of other women out there. Remember, when life gets tough, STAY STRONG.

Love,
