Taylor Swift was asked by the state to do coastline construction that upset Rhode Island neighbors

Don't worry, Rhode Island-ers: Taylor Swift isn't ruining the coastline.

A representative for the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council told The Providence Journal that the construction that Swift had ordered in front of her ocean-side mansion was by the request of the state.

Swift, 24, provoked concern from her neighbors with a major facelift to the seawall and beachside boulders near her home, which borders a public access road to the ocean. The state was reportedly fielding complaints from local residents, who feared that the project would alter the coastline.

But the Council's Laura Dwyer insists that any ill will towards Swift's renovations is unfounded, particularly in regards to the large boulders Swift is moving closer to her home.

"The larger boulders were historically there," Dwyer said. "When the applicant came in with plans, they were proposing to leave those rocks way out in the water. We were the ones who asked them to get those boulders as close to the seaward side of that concrete wall as possible."
