Nick Grimshaw has hit back over his friendship with One Direction star Harry Styles, claiming there nothing “weird” about their close bond which he finds “normal.”
The Radio 1 DJ, who has been close pals with the 'Little Things' heart throb for the last two years, says he is surprised by the reaction to their friendship with some commenting on the nine-year age gap.
In an interview with Now magazine, Nick explained how he became friends with the 19-year-old 1D star whom he insists is “really funny.”
“It's not that weird, is it?” Nick, 28, said.
“It seems totally normal to me: a DJ being mates with a popstar. It's not like he's some weirdo who can't talk. He's really funny.”
“When anyone meets him, it's like, 'Oh yeah, he's really nice and interesting'. And they immediately understand."
“Once it got to 4am, I knew there was no point in going to bed, so we decided to go back to mine, and I made the deal that if we stayed up, then I'd get Harry to do the show with me. I thought it would be bad if it was just me on my own as the only hungover person.
“Afterwards I said to Harry, 'Was that funny? Or were we just really hungover and thought we were being hilarious?' But I think people enjoyed it.”
