Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen rule U.S. charts over Canada Day

Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen ruled the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 over Canada Day with the superstar singers teaming to become the first Canadian artists to dominate both U.S. charts since 1996.

According to an article posted yesterday (7/2/12) at Billboard.Biz.com, Bieber and Jepsen, who will be touring Canada together in the fall, have become the first pair of Canucks to rule the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 concurrently since Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette more than 16 years ago with Dion's single "Because You Loved Me" and Morissette's album “Jagged Little Pill.”

Bieber's new album “Believe” stormed the Billboard 200 last week, moving 370,000 units to top the charts and give it the biggest U.S. sales debut in 2012 thus far.

Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe” tallied its 3rd week atop the Billboard Hot 100.

Jepsen will open for the “Baby” hitmaker, when Bieber brings his red hot “Believe” tour to Canada in October.

Presented by AEG Live, the “Believe Tour” will begin September 29 (9/29/12) in Glendale, AZ and wrap up in Miami, FL on January 26 (9/26/12).

Canadian dates scheduled thus far include: Oct. 12 Calgary, AB – Scotiabank Saddledome, Oct. 15 Edmonton, AB - Rexall Place, Oct. 16 Saskatoon, SK Credit Union Centre, Oct. 18 Winnipeg, MB - MTS Centre, Nov. 23 Ottawa, ON - Scotiabank Place, Nov. 26 Montreal, QC - Bell Centre and Dec. 1 Toronto, ON - Rogers Centre.
