Teen star Greyson wows crowd at 1Borneo

His arrival was announced by the local and national radio stations a month before he came, making many young girls going wild with expectations and prompting them to call the radio stations for free tickets.

Tickets were sold out a day before the concert making Greyson extra thrilled and excited to meet his fans.

“Never had such a warm welcome! Thanks KK! You guys are amazing(:

“Hold On ‘Til The Night is sold out in ALL of KK! What an amazing landmark. I LOVE MY FANS!!!!!!” he twitted (sic) after the concert.

Greyson was supposed to sing five songs but ended up belting out eight songs for about 2,000 fans who jammed the venue for the show even before 4pm, which finally started on at 8.30pm.

Before the “Greyson Chance Live in Malaysia” concert at the Gourmet Lane, brought by Tunetalk Mobile Prepaid and Universal Music Malaysia, he had met up with the local media for a press conference.

He shared his story on how he started his career.

In April 2010, the sixth-grader’s brother posted a clip on YouTube of Chance performing Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at a choir event in his hometown of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Since then Greyson’s life has been a whirlwind of exciting opportunities.

The now infamous performance went on to become YouTube’s most popular video of 2010 and has to date received over 40 million viewings.

The clip also caught the eye of the producer of the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” which led to Chance’s first guest appearance.

Only a week later, during his second appearance on her show, DeGeneres announced that she had signed Greyson as the first artiste on her newly formed label, eleveneleven.

And the rest was just history.

Greyson was in the city promoting his songs and tried many activities around the island and tasting the food.

“I had an amazing day at the beach. Got to jet ski, snorkel, and kayaking. Had a blast. Malaysia beaches are no joke.

“I would love to come back and try other activites, and to know more about the culture. I love culture and history as in the US we do not really have any culture and history because it was a new country,” he said.

Asked of his favourite food in Sabah, Greyson said he loved the taste of the chilly sauce becaue it was hotter than the ones he has back home.

He had tasted durian and bambangan but did not like them because of the smell and taste.

After a full house showcase on Nov 17, Greyson took his time to contribute to Sabah by paying a visit to Sabah Women & Children Hospital in Likas to give encouragement to children patients as well as sending his early Christmas greetings to the kids.

All 40 kids received his autographed Christmas card and lollipop, as well as witnessed a special performance, where Greyson sang two songs, ‘Waiting Outside The Lines’ and ‘Unfriend You’.

He spent close to an hour with the kids.

The objective of this visit was to raise public awareness on the need to pay more attention and to give care towards children.

Some of the children at the hospital are terminally ill and they do need help from the public in order to go by the costly medications.
