Taylor Swift’s ‘Sparks Fly’ Featured in ‘Hart of Dixie’ Promo

Taylor Swift never fails to offer up anthems of love, loss and the day-to-day experiences of being a young girl in love in a big world. Her themes fit perfectly into the CW’s new series ‘Hart of Dixie,’ which premiered on the channel in September and will pick back up on Jan. 23. In a recent promo clip for the upcoming season, Swift’s ‘Sparks Fly’ plays behind the sneak peak of the season, rife with the romantic, comedic drama that’s come to be expected from the CW.

‘Hart of Dixie’ is the story of a young, highly driven city girl named Zoe Hart (played by Rachel Bilson) who winds up in Bluebell, Ala. at a small medical practice rather than following her father into a career as a cardiothoracic surgeon. The show plays up the big city girl in a tightknit small town theme, with Hart messing up the social norms and the way things are (i.e. who’s engaged to whom).

In this clip, we see Hart breaking the news to her mother that she moved to Alabama — and her own mother hangs up on her. Then, she’s in the heart of Alabama dealing with all the changes from her big city life. She can’t get Greek olives and feta cheese on her omelette, people can’t believe she’s a female doctor, debutante-looking southern belles tell her to her face that she’s not welcome and two fine looking young gentlemen fight for her affection, often with their shirts off.

Still, when Swift’s song comes on behind the clip, the video seems to pick up and feel more alive — and even believable.

In addition to having her song featured in this promo, Swift just released a new song called ‘Safe and Sound‘ featuring the Civil Wars for ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack.

Taylor Swift -- 'Sparks Fly' Video!

Taylor Swift shimmies and shakes in her brand-new music video for “Sparks Fly.”

The 21-year-old musician recently chatted with the Kyle and Jackie O show in Australia and dished about what goes on backstage during her concerts.

“I have three people that help me change clothes, I have to change clothes in under 30 seconds every single time. It’s crazy because I’m usually going from a little dress to two dresses stacked on top of each other with a ballgown on top, different shoes changes, so there’s somebody taking off my shoes the same time somebody is putting a dress over my head, the same time somebody is changing my hair…” Taylor dished.

Taylor Swift's style of concert: more a revue ... and it works beautifully

Cleveland, Ohio -- In the good ol' days -- or so some would have you believe -- music alone was enough to carry a concert.

Taylor Swift, who packed nearly 15,000 into a sold-out Q Saturday night, can do that. But Swift, who's not even 22, has more as much business savvy as musical talent. She turned her "Speak Now" tour date into a Broadway revue, complete with dancers, pyrotechnics and a stage that among other things segued between Victorian pub, a 1930s Appalachian bandstand, a church and a wintry concert hall featuring a begowned Swift on a snow-white grand piano.

That's why she created a show that was not a melange of songs, but a collection of musical one-act plays, complete with costume changes and choreography ranging from barn-dancing to tap to modern jazz to full-blown ballet on "Enchanted."

"Back to December,'' the song using the grand piano set, showed that -- sniff -- our little Taylor has grown up. Yeah, she threw out the usual hits, "Mean,'' "Sparks Fly,'' "You Belong,'' "Mean'' and more. But it's the appearance of the "December'' ballad early in her show that indicates the kid with the middle-school yearbook lyrics has become a woman. A gifted, beautiful woman.

Oh, and a woman who's "Fearless.'' It would take someone with that kind of courage to use a UKELE to sing one of her biggest hits after navigating through the crowd from one end of The Q to the other. Beefy security guys can only do so much, ya know? And let's not even talk about the guts it takes to circumnavigate The Q suspended in a prop balcony for her "Love Story'' finale.

Swift is one of those songwriters who thrives on pain. "Last Kiss'' is a classic example. The song was simple, and simply elegant, down to the spot-on harmonies and especially a beautiful harp interlude that showed a new depth to her ability to interpret and RE-interpret her own work.

Re-imagining "Haunted,'' for example, into a Cirque de Soleil event -- complete with dancers suspended on elastic ropes from huge churchbells -- isn't something that would occur to the typical country artist. Heck, Criss Angel might have trouble coming up with such a concept.

It wasn't perfect; intermittent muddy sound throughout the 15-song and two-encore show took away a lot of the nuances that make Swift's innocent voice unique. But it was close enough that it's pretty clear this isn't her last sold-out concert tour. But more than that, she may have changed the way country concerts will be staged.

Bear Rinehart, the raspy voiced lead singer for South Carolina power pop Needtobreathe, channeled his inner Bono (down to the fedora but minus the cool yellow specs) for a 30-minute set. About the only thing country about them is the boots Bear and his little brother, guitarist Bo, and the rest of the band were sporting.

Now the other opening act is a little -- OK, a LOT -- different. If a mad scientist took Swift's DNA and created a male version, it'd be Hunter Hayes. Four songs, including the title cut off his "Storm Warning,'' made it clear that the kid (at 20 he's a year younger than Swift) from Breaux Bridge, La., has a lot of same songwriting style -- and gift.

But if what Swift did is any indication, he'd better brush up on his tap and ballet.

Taylor Swift Makes 'Sparks Fly' On Social 50 Chart

Taylor Swift flies up the Social 50, rising 21-14 following buzz generated by the news of her latest single, "Sparks Fly." Swift took to Facebook on July 5 to make the announcement. Currently, the song has 19,000 Facebook plays and 12,300 MySpace plays.

One day later, news came that Swift would be postponing several tour dates, having come down with bronchitis. In turn, fans showed their support, leaving her 9,200 comments and 22,400 status Likes.

Her fanbase also grew across Facebook (a growth of 269,000 fans) and Twitter (73,000 new followers) -- up 20% week-to-week. Elsewhere, Swift closed the tracking week with 6 million VEVO video plays.

Another big announcement came from Demi Lovato (who rises 44-32), who after being released from treatment for emotional and physical issues earlier this year, took to YouTube on July 8 to reveal her musical comeback with the single "Skyscraper." The video teaser has since pulled in over 474,000 YouTube views. Shortly thereafter, the audio for the much anticipated song debuted on July 11, garnering upwards of 121,000 views.

Lovato's comeback noticeably catalyzed fan activity across Facebook and Twitter too, with impressive gains in fans (145,000) and followers (53,000).

The Social 50 ranks the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites -- YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike -- using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

Buzzing Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller (No. 43) took to Ustream on July 5 to announce the title of his debut studio album, "Blue Slide Park," due out this fall. Since posting the video to YouTube, it has gained nearly 400,000 views. He also gained 45,000 Facebook fans and 26,500 Twitter followers.

During a live remote on the Miami hit music station Y100, Cody Simpson (47-36) announced that he's "95% done" with his latest album, which is set to be released in September.

Its first single, "On My Mind," has racked up 1.9 million views on YouTube since its debut (June 17). On Facebook, the song has performed equally well; it also rests at 1.9 million plays. There, Simpson also adds 31,500 fans to his total of 1.3 million Facebook Likes.

Back in the top 10, Selena Gomez tumbles 9-1, unable to maintain the momentum resulting from the release of her latest album "When The Sun Goes Down" (June 28) and premiere of her romantic comedy "Monte Carlo" (July 1). At first, this fanatic social activity catapulted her 5-1 - stealing the crown from boyfriend Justin Bieber (2-1) -- but such a surge in sometimes difficult to maintain.

As for the rest of the top 10, since Gomez shifts down, everyone moves up the list. Lady Gaga climbs 4-2, Katy Perry rises 6-3, Shakira's up 5-4, Michael Jackson moonwalks 5-3 and Rihanna, Eminem and Beyonce all climb one spot to Nos. 6, 7 and 8 respectively. Linkin Park closes out the top 10, rising 15-10.
