Ashley Benson seems to have become really good friends with fellow Spring Breakers star Selena Gomez, as the actress has been able to speak candidly about situations in Selena Gomez’s life.
The Pretty Little Liars star sat down for an interview for Cosmopolitan because she is featured on the cover of the March edition of the magazine.
When asked about Selena Gomez the actress replied, “She’s been through a lot.”
Ashley could be referring to the tumultuous relationship that Selena Gomez has had with troubled star Justin Bieber.
Justin Bieber is facing charges of DUI, resisting arrest non-violently, and driving on an expired license.
Perhaps Ashley can relate to dealing with friends or family having substance abuse issues. The 24-year-old also opened up about why she’s done her best to stay away from drugs.
“Once you start with any drug, it can be an addiction – that’s why I never want to start and am not even tempted, because that chain is relentless,” she explained. “If it runs in your family, you see how unglamorous it is. I would never want to be out of control with my body.”
The actress also spoke about what it’s like to be around those addicted to drugs. She admitted that she has experienced her loved ones having substance abuse problems.
“There are drugs and alcohol in my family on both sides, so I’ve seen lives ruined, going to jail and all that,” she admitted.
