Demi Lovato Wishes She Could Be More Like Simon Cowell On The X Factor USA

She's really enjoying her time on the X Factor USA and has proved to be a good judge so far, especially having been asked back for a second series - but Demi Lovato wishes she could be a bit more judgemental towards contestants.

The pop star said she envies Simon Cowell's ability to be forthright and tell it like it is but finds herself unable to say the words.

Demi joined the show last year and came back for a second season to be joined by Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland as well as Cowell.

Viewers on both sides of the Atlantic know that Cowell doesn't hold back when talking to contestants and is the first to voice his disdain - but Demi cannot bring herself to do the same.

That's not such a bad thing, Demi!

"Whatever he has to say, it's the honest truth," she told heat magazine. "Sometimes I don't agree with him, but most of the time he says what I'm wanting to say but, like, I just physically can't because it's so mean!

"He knows what he's talking about, he knows that he's doing and he's gonna tell you straight up, whether you want to hear it or not.

"But then a percentage of my mind is gonna be like, 'Well, he also said that this person was really talented,' so it's the opinion of a guy who's very smart and who knows what he's going, but at the end of the day it's an opinion."

The 20-year-old recently released her fourth studio album, simply called Demi, and she admitted that making it was "very therapeutic" for her.

"It helped me get rid of my demons. I am a warrior now - I've been through so much in the past years, it was hard to find the courage to get out of it and write about it, I was afraid no one would understand my message.''
