Hailey Bieber Reveals She Had Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder After Giving Birth
“After I had my son, I struggled with [PMDD] a bit, and there’s just not a lot of conversation or research around it,” she shared with Women’s Wear Daily.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a more serious form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It causes physical and emotional symptoms every menstrual cycle in the week or two before your period.” Some common symptoms include anger or irritability, feeling on edge, overwhelmed or tense, anxiety and panic attacks, depression and suicidal thoughts, difficulty concentrating, fatigue and low energy, food cravings, binge eating or changes in appetite, headaches, insomnia, and mood swings.
The site notes, “With treatment, most people with PMDD get relief from their symptoms and are able to enjoy life more fully. Talking to a mental health specialist or joining a support group may also help. Most people don’t have symptoms after menopause.”
Hailey Bieber Reveals What Has Made Her Feel Less Alone
“Conversation, for me personally, makes me feel less alone. When we can identify with each other and have conversations relating to each other and talking about the things we’re dealing with and struggling with, I do think it makes it feel like less of a lonely journey,” she continued.
She continued, “Especially after having my own child. That was just a really intense and special journey that I had. There’s so much that happens when you are pregnant, during childbirth. There’s so many things that happen leading up to having a child.”
If you are not aware, Hailey suffered from a mini-stroke in 2022.
