The man that grabbed Ariana Grande at the premiere of Wicked: For Good in Singapore has found himself in legal trouble.
As the 32-year-old actress/singer arrived at the premiere with co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh on Thursday (November 13), a man, later identified as Johnson Wen, unexpectedly crashed the red carpet and ran up to Ariana and forcefully put his arm around her shoulder and started jumping up and down.
Before security could react, Cynthia, 38, jumped into action and wrestled Ariana away from Wen and held her close as security dragged him off the red carpet.
Later that night, Wen took to Instagram to write that he was “free after being arrested.”
The incident caused massive outrage and Wen is now facing charges.
Keep reading to find out more…On Friday (November 14), BBC reported that Wen was charged with being a public nuisance by a Singapore court. Wen, who is unrepresented, intends to plead guilty to the charge.
If found guilty, he may be fined up to S$2000 ($1540; £1170).
This isn’t the first time Wen, who describes himself as a “Troll Most Hated,” has invaded a concert or event. Earlier this year, he broke through the barricades and jumped on stage during Katy Perry‘s concert in Sydney. Last year, he did the same thing at one of The Chainsmokers‘ concerts.
Find out why Ariana Grande was forced to miss the Wicked: For Good premiere in Brazil earlier this month.
