Cynthia Erivo Explains Why She Spoke Up About Edited 'Wicked' Poster, Talks Kardashian Family Screening

Cynthia Erivo is opening up about two buzzworthy topics that created headlines in the past couple weeks.

The Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning actress just chatted about the controversy over a fan-edited Wicked poster and watching the movie with the Kardashian family.

Cynthia made headlines when she slammed fans for editing the Wicked movie poster to cover up her face and make it look like the Broadway poster, which covers Elphaba’s eyes with her hat.

The Wicked team also made headlines when the Kardashian-Jenner family was given a private screening of the movie at home, with both Cynthia and Ariana Grande in attendance.

While talking about the poster controversy, Cynthia told ET, “It wasn’t necessarily a clap-back. I think I’m really protective of the role and just as I’m passionate about… Well I am passionate about it and I know that the fans are passionate about it, and I think for me it was just like a human moment of like, wanting to protect little Elphaba. And it was a human moment. I probably should’ve called my friends, but, it’s fine.”

Cynthia also says she watched the movie for the first time with Ariana at the Kardashian screening!

“That was a lot of fun. Very emotional, lots of tears, and it was really, really sweet. It was the first time that Ari and I got to watch it together. It was really lovely,” she said.

The stars had another very special screening of the movie on Monday!
