'Wizards of Waverly Place' Showrunner Talks Selena Gomez's Character & Sexuality, Makes 2 Big Revelations About Her Relationships

In an ideal world, Selena Gomez would have played one of the first bisexual characters on the Disney Channel, at least according to Wizards of Waverly Place showrunner Peter Murrieta.

If you weren’t aware, the 30-year-old Only Murders in the Building actress starred in the series as Alex Russo, a wizard.

During the show, she had one big relationship with Gregg Sulkin‘s character Mason Greybeck, a werewolf. However, there was another relationship that Peter wanted to play up as much as possible while he was in charge of the first three seasons.

He opened up about Alex’s sexuality and revealed an ideal ending during a recent podcast appearance. In the process, he spilled some major tea about two of Selena‘s onscreen relationships, one of which he said would not have been possible at Disney at the time.
