Fans think Selena Gomez‘s new song “Souvenir” is about her ex boyfriend The Weeknd based on a few lyrics in the song.
The Weeknd‘s 2018 song “Call Out My Name” features the lyric “Call out my name when I kiss you so gently,” which is similar to a lyric in Selena‘s new song which reads, “Calling you name, the only language I can speak.”
One fan on Twitter noticed that that one of The Weeknd‘s lyrics from the same song asks “Won’t you call out my name?” and it seems like Selena‘s response could be “Calling you name, the only language I can speak.”
Another lyric on the song is, “New York back in August / 10th floor balcony. Smoke is floating over / Jane and Greenwich street,” which aligns with the August 2017 timeline of their relationship when they were in the Big Apple together.
A different lyric mentions a Sunset Tower date night, saying, “Sunset Tower lobby / Waiting there for me / In the elevator / Fumble for your key,” and Selena and The Weeknd were seen out together at the hotspot in 2017.
The pair dated for 10 months in 2017 and broke up in October of 2017.
