Sam Smith won the first award presented during the televised portion of the 2015 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center on Sunday (February 8) in Los Angeles.
The 22-year-old singer picked up the award for Best New Artist, which was presented to him by his pal Taylor Swift .

Sam beat out Iggy Azalea , Haim , Bastille , and Brandy Clark for the big honor. All of the nominees said it was the one award they wanted to win tonight as they only can be nominated for it once in their career.
