Jay Z might want to pen a song about New York City with Taylor Swift like now. The girl has some serious credit in the Big Apple.
T-Swift is not only on top of the album charts right now, but she was also just named New York City's newest ambassador for tourism. NYC & Company, the city's official marketing and tourism organization, announced her new role shortly after her 1989 album was released earlier this week,
In honor of her landing the title, a series of promotional videos in which the singer defines essential New York vocabulary, such as "stoop" and "bodega," have been released. Of course, she just released that "Welcome to New York" song that's all about moving the city, too.
"New York kind of pulled me here like a magnet," she says. "I was intimidated by the fact that it was bright and bold and loud. And now I know that I should run towards things like that."
Taylor's not originally a New Yorker, but that's not what NYC & Company are looking for in an ambassador. They want people to represent that have moved to New York from their norm, and love it.
Tay's is originally from Pennsylvania, but has a house in Beverly Hills, Nashville, and Rhode Island. She also has a magnificent apartment in NYC.
Listen to Taylor's "Welcome to New York" below. Think she deserves the title?
