Pharrell Williams has stated that he won't turn his back on controversial singer Miley Cyrus despite her endless bout of shocking behaviour, describing her as his “little sister” and insisting that there is more to her personality.
The 'We Can't Stop' singer is never too far away from scandal, whether it's encouraging drug use on stage or wearing little clothing, but her mentor Pharrell, says Miley is simply being creative.
“[She] is my little sister and I ride forever for her,” Pharrell told radio station Z100.
“You’re just getting a slice of who she is, just a slice of her creativity. She is not in a box. The overarching theme to her personality is just big, and larger than life, and happy.”
The 40-year-old producer has himself whipped up his fair share of controversy this week after he was pictured on the cover of ELLE magazine wearing a Native American headdress, sparking outrage amongst many who found it disrespectful.
Apologising for the move, a rep told the New York Daily News on behalf of Pharrell: “I respect and honour every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry.”
