Since The Fault in Our Stars made a whopping $48 million domestically during it’s opening weekend, it’s safe to say that we definitely haven’t seen the last of co-star Nat Wolff.
The 19-year-old recently chatted with Vulture about what it was like being the youngest person on a movie set, filming specific scenes and more.
On projects where he might have been the youngest person on the set: I was in this movie Palo Alto earlier this year, and that along with Fault In Our Stars had a lot of teenagers. It was great. It reminded me of when I worked with my brother in Naked Brothers Band when I was younger. There’s a lot of fun and excitement because we’re all in the beginning stages of our careers. But it’s great working with experienced actors, too, because you learn a lot by watching them. There’s stuff that young actors won’t know until they’ve worked for that many years.
On filming that epic trophy scene: It was really cathartic. Before the first take, they told me five spots I was allowed to hit with the trophy, and then I waited two hours to shoot the scene. By the time we got to it, I smashed in all the wrong spots. At the end of a scene like that — especially that specific scene, which was hard to choreograph — I was just happy that we cracked it. It’s good to be able to expel some of my hidden rage.
On his connection with the book version of his upcoming film The Stand: I love it! I read it on an audiobook, which took, like, six years. But I liked it, because it almost felt like I was inside it. Obviously, I haven’t started doing the research for it yet, but I think it’s the best post-apocalyptic novel, and Josh is the perfect person to bring it to life: He’s such a huge Stephen King fan, and he’s great with actors and this is a big ensemble.
