At fashion week in New York City, designers unveiled what’s in store for next fall — but downtown at Milk Studios in the Meatpacking district, design duo “The Blonds,” opted for catsuits, not coats, and gave a taste of what a certain twerking superstar will be wearing on her upcoming tour.
“The Blonds are about glamour, we’re about setting the place on fire with electricity, absolutely pushing the boundaries,” said Phillipe Blond, one half of the platinum pair, in an interview before the show.
Phillipe and David Blond, with their glam costumery, have developed a dedicated following of today’s top performers since launching their label “The Blonds” in 2008. Their fans include Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, among others, and the latest addition to their celeb following is none other than Google’s most-searched person of 2013: Miley Cyrus.
“We’ve just come off working on Miley Cyrus’s tour [costumes],” said David, “So we’re super excited about that. It will be like the most insane thing you’ve ever seen on the planet.”
Working with Cyrus, is “Great inspiration,” David said. “She has a way of thinking that there are no limits, and those are the kind of artists we like working with because they don’t have a limit and they want to push things farther and take things to different places.”
“Which is our state of mind all the time,” Phillipe added. “So it was a perfect partnership.”
Cyrus’s “Bangerz” tour kicks off today in Vancouver, BC. And if The Blonds Fall 2014 fashion show was any indication, attendees are in for glitz, glam, and a sartorial treat.
