Sarah Hyland risked the wrath of Carly Rae Jepsen's fans when she gave a negative reaction to the news that the Canadian star will be playing Cinderella on Broadway, claiming that she's “not okay” with the casting choice and telling her Twitter followers that she was having a “meltdown.”
'Call Me Maybe' singer Carly confirmed last week that she will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming Broadway musical in February, revealing that it's been a “dream” of hers to star in the classic tale, however, the news hasn't impressed everyone as Modern Family star Sarah revealed her fury on Twitter over Carly's new gig.
“Today's a meltdown day. Carly Rae jepsen is going to be cinderella??? On broadway???? NOT OK WITH THIS. Tell me it's gonna be ok @LauraOsnes,” Sarah tweeted on December 30.
“Hoping she will be amazing. I'm hesitant though. Too avoid anyone assuming things? My previous tweets do not mean that I'm not a Carly Rae Jepsen fan. The end.”
Gushing over the news last week to the Hollywood Reporter, Carly said: "Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale."
Meanwhile, Sarah, 23, has developed a close friendship with country starlet Taylor Swift with the pals even spending New Year's together.
Alongside an Instagram photo of the pair with Sarah wearing a tiara, the actress wrote: “New Years with the best of the best @taylorswift (I look scared... I think I should be).”
