Monsters University topped the weekend’s box office for the second week in a row, earning $46.2 million!
According to THR, Disney and Pixar’s long-awaited sequel – starring Billy Crystal and John Goodman – now has a domestic total of $171 million and an international total of $129.3 million.
Coming in strong at No. 2 was Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy‘s buddy comedy The Heat, which impressed with a $40 million opening.
Taking the No. 3 spot was Brad Pitt‘s latest flick World War Z, bringing in an additional $30 million.
Rounding out the top five were White House Down, starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, bringing in $25.7 million and $20.8 million, respectively.
Seth Rogen‘s directorial debut This Is the End grossed an additional $8.7 million in its third weekend for a North American total of $74.7 million.
