Justin Timberlake's latest single is stirring up some pretty serious controversy! The song, entitled "Take Back the Night" landed the singer in some pretty hot water with an organization by the same name.
"Everyone at Take Back the Night is really shocked, because normally, we get asked when people want to use the name," the group's Executive Director told RadarOnline.
While the organization is angered that Justin decided to use their name without asking, they have some even larger concerns.
Take Back the Night was created to "end sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse and all other forms of sexual violence," and they are less than thrilled by some of the sexually suggestive lyrics in Justin's song, which bares their namesake.
After learning that he had offended the organization, Justin released the following statement:
"Upon the release of my new single 'Take Back The Night,' I was made aware of an organization of the same name called The Take Back The Night Foundation. I wanted to take this opportunity to let all know that neither my song nor its lyrics have any association with the organization. As I've learned more about The Take Back The Night Foundation, I'm moved by its efforts to stop violence against women, create safe communities and encourage respectful relationships for women-something we all should rally around. It is my hope that this coincidence will bring more awareness to this cause."
The group, which was originally considering suing Justin, seems satisfied with the apology and told BuzzFeed this morning that they will not be pursuing legal action against the singer.
