Taylor Swift knows a thing or two about writing catchy breakup songs. So when she paid homage to the latest anthem from Fall Out Boy, she called upon lead singer Patrick Stump to take the stage with her.
Swift performed the band's "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" (off their 2013 album release Save Rock and Roll) Saturday on her Red tour stop at the Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She called the track "one of my absolute favorite songs of the entire year" before Stump hit the stage with her to rock out.
"It was amazing playing with Taylor Swift," Patrick told MTV News on Wednesday, hours after hearing about the band's VMA nomination for the "Light 'Em Up" vid. "She's a hell of an entertainer and her audience was amazing."
He continued, "It was just one of the coolest things and I felt very lucky to be there. She really gave a lot of love to the fans. We all were just very grateful for it. It definitely felt like getting to see a completely different world. It was awesome. I'm very satisfied with how it went."
Swift and Stump will likely run into one another again next month. The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer and Fall Out Boy are both nominated for Moonmen at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, taking place August 25, live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Swift is up for a couple of awards, including Video of the Year and Best Female Video, for her turn as a rocker-chic-inspired bad girl in the "Trouble" and FOB are nominated in the Best Rock Video for their 2 Chainz-starring clip for "Light 'Em Up."
