Monsters University topped this weekend’s box office, earning $82 million in its opening weekend!
According to THR, Disney and Pixar’s long-awaited sequel – starring Billy Crystal and John Goodman – also took in an early $54.5 million, giving the film a worldwide debut of $136.5 million.
Coming in at No. 2 was Brad Pitt‘s World War Z, which earned $66 million, making it his biggest domestic opening ever.
Taking the No. 3 spot was Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, which grossed $41.2 million in its second weekend.
Rounding out the top five were Seth Rogen‘s directorial debut This Is the End and Now You See Me, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco, bringing in $13 million and $7.6 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Fast & Furious 6 stayed strong with $4.6 million, and Emma Watson‘s The Bling Ring racked in an additional $1.8 million as it expanded to 650 theaters in its second week.
