Life's for real on Jonas show

Kevin Jonas knew he and wife Danielle would be taking a gamble on their marriage and exposing their personal lives after signing up for their own reality TV show.

But after getting through an entire season of filming their series, Married to Jonas, the couple felt they were ready to do it all again.

"Me and Dani weren't sure about it right away but then we shot the pilot and we had some fun with it and we were like 'This is not so bad'," Kevin told AAA.

"We decided to jump on for the first season and, once the second season came along, there was a slight change in the process of the show, which worked with our schedules, and we thought 'Let's do this'.

"It's been a blessing. A lot of people have really struggled with doing reality shows but luckily for us we grew closer. But who knows how long (the show) will last."

Picking up where the first season left off, Kevin and his brothers, Nick and Joe Jonas, are finishing an album and preparing for their first world tour in three years, while Danielle wants to focus on her career.

Already dealing with the mounting pressures to start a family, the couple also contemplate making the move from their suburban home in New Jersey to the hustle and bustle of New York, despite Danielle's close-knit family trying to convince them otherwise.

"It definitely added more pressure (doing season two)," Kevin said. "We were finishing the album, going back on tour, then Dani getting very busy with her career. So it definitely created this combination of me wanting to have Dani with me - but then she needs to do what she needs to do.

"My schedule was pulling me in one direction and she also needed me to be a part of things back home.

"But it's just life, just the way it is. It always goes the way that you don't expect and I think that it's why it's always unusual and unfair, but at the same time you've just got to pull through as a team and work together.

"When it comes down to the show, you can see that - maybe more in the second season than in the first.

"Luckily it worked out. We had to go on the road with the show, basically, which was really fun for fans to see and I'm really looking forward to having that piece air."

But having their own reality show also has its downfalls. Later on in season two, where Kevin tries to convince Danielle to turn down a lucrative job offer and join him on tour, the singer is accused of being "sexist".

"I think it was more of a selfish moment," Kevin explained.

"I wanted her with me on the road so we could enjoy each other's company and travel together. It had nothing to do with me believing that a woman shouldn't have a job.

"People always like to make a little bit more out of things than they actually are."

Married to Jonas screens on Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Foxtel's E! channel.
