Justin Bieber can expect a bill for parking his pet monkey in a German animal shelter: The cost of care, food and vet visits for the pop star's capuchin, Mally, is several thousand dollars, a spokesman for the Munich customs office told The Associated Press.
Customs officials quarantined Mally in March after Bieber arrived in Germany without the proper paperwork for the monkey. The singer has until midnight today to claim Mally, customs spokesman Thomas Meister said. The shelter housing Mally has said that Bieber's management company has asked that the 20-week-old creature be placed in a zoo, though customs officials say they haven't received a formal request from Bieber or a representative.
Bieber's monkey business was just one in a string of bizarre incidents on the singer's world tour this year. He fainted backstage in London, got in a screaming match with paparazzi and left a comment of questionable taste in the guestbook at the Anne Frank House museum. Drugs were found on a tour bus he had used in Sweden, he was grabbed by a fan onstage in Dubai and, just last weekend, thieves in South Africa stole $330,000 from a safe room in the Johannesburg stadium where Bieber was performing.
