Demi Lovato getting her own multimedia iBook for iPad

The latest music artist to launch an official e-book through Apple’s iBooks platform is pop-star Demi Lovato, whose Demi will be released on 11 June, but is available to pre-order for £2.99 now.

“Fully endorsed by Demi Lovato and made exclusively for iBooks, this is the ultimate companion piece to Miss Lovato’s fourth studio album,” explains its iBooks store listing.

“With the Demi book, you’ll be able to: Explore a timeline of Demi’s career achievements. Have backstage access of highlights of her international sold out tours. View exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the recording of her new album.”

The book includes a music video of ‘In Case’ from Lovato’s new album, more than 50 photographs, videos of behind-the-scenes footage, and the promise of “interactive widgets, social functionalities and more”.

Disney subsidiary Hollywood Records is listed as the e-book’s publisher, with distributor INscribe Digital listed as its seller. They worked with agency Brandwidth on the title.

Lovato is the latest in a growing number of music artists to get the iBook treatment. There’s the recent Led Zeppelin: Sound and Fury e-book by Neal Preston, for example – also by Brandwidth – which blended text, photos, audio and video.

Other examples: Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto comics and Mylo Xyloto Live iBook (April 2013 and December 2012 respectively); Thames & Hudson’s The Rolling Stones 50 (October 2012); Olivia Harrison’s George Harrison: Living In the Material World (May 2012); Mike Skinner’s The Story of The Streets (April 2012); and Atlantic Records’ For Your Sake: Inside the Making of Shinedown’s Amaryllis (March 2012).
