Technically, one of the first photos you probably saw from the upcoming Wizards of Waverly Place special, The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex, was the picture tweeted by Selena Gomez‘s on-screen dad, played by David DeLuise. But, for all intents and purposes, we’re not going to count that because it wasn’t an actual still from the Disney Channel show. Okay, now that we’ve got that out of the way, make room for the first official shot from WoWP:
In the above photo, Selena is pictured in an all-black, leather jumpsuit with a wand in hand… on top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. According to E!, “The one-hour episode begins with the Russo family and friends traveling to Tuscany, Italy [hence, the Leaning Tower], to meet their long-lost relatives, but they run into a little problem when Alex tries to prove she’s more than a seemingly carefree young wizard. Without realizing it, she conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex… When Evil Alex gets roped into a plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two versions of herself.” We’re gonna go out on a limb and say leather-clad Selena is on the ‘Good’ side.
When asked about working with the actress on the special, Awkward. star Beau Mirchoff said Selena was “[s]o cool. She’s awesome; she’s so good,” and mentions that he himself will play an evil wizard. Wonder how he and Evil Alex will team up…
