Simon Cowell has refused to say whether Demi Lovato will return to The X Factor USA next year.
Lovato and Britney Spears joined Cowell and LA Reid on the panel for this season of the Fox talent show, but Cowell would not confirm or deny whether he would like her to stay.
"It's that time of year [when] you're always going to get asked that question," he told People. "And I'm not going to answer it."
Cowell acknowledged that his on-screen battles with Lovato have been "a bit bitchy and unpleasant" but also described the singer as "fun".
"She really, really is a tough little thing," he said. "I know she plays the 'I've been bullied' [card] - trust me, this one gives as good as she gets."
Spears has previously claimed that she will "definitely" be returning for The X Factor USA's third season next year.
