We all know how Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, felt about his most famous client getting snubbed at this year's Grammys. But, on Friday (December 14), Bieber himself will share his reaction to the non-omination for the first time on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," and he's not that happy either!
"I was looking forward to [possible Grammy noms], but I know it will happen one day," Bieber said in an interview airing Friday, in which he admits that the shut-out of Believe was a "big bummer" for him.
But he's clearly not letting it get him down, because in that same interview he confirmed the upcoming release of the acoustic album he hinted at last week in a series of tweets.
"It's something the fans really like," Bieber said about unplugged performances of songs including "Boyfriend" and "As Long As You Love Me," which he's been mixing into his sets all year. "Because I started out on YouTube just playing my guitar, just singing without all the production, so I like to just put out acoustic albums. I think it's more intimate."
Though he didn't reveal a title or the track listing for the disc he said will drop in January, MTV News has reached out to Bieber's label for more details and will bring them to you as soon as they're available. "Been writing alot...new stuff...and yeah. the acoustic album, new arrangements, is happening... #withdankanter," he tweeted last week. Hours later, he added, "blessed to do what we do everyday. i love music. thanks." He updated the progress on Thursday, tweeting, "Back in the studio making sure I deliver for you," with producer Dan Kanter adding, "So many songs to choose from. Which ones do you want to hear #acoustic???"
A short time later, Bieber showed his work, posting a picture on Instagram of his feet up on a studio console during a session for the stripped-down disc. It's not the first time Bieber will set the beats aside, as he released My Worlds Acoustic in 2010, which re-visited versions of some of his biggest tunes, including "Baby," "One Less Lonely Girl" and the then-new track, "Pray." As for the Grammy brushoff, so far Bieber is used to keeping his seat on music's biggest night, as he lost out to jazz singer/bassist Esperanza Spalding two years ago in his first bid for an award. Justin's not sweating it, though, telling Ellen that there is plenty of time for him to get his Grammy gold in the future.
"I'm so young, I'm only 18," he said. "I'm just blessed to be able to do what I love every day. And the AMAs was a lot of fun for me so...Hopefully, one day." Bieber snagged three wins at last month's American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist Pop/Rock and Favorite Album -- Pop/Rock.
