Taylor Swift seals the deal on $4.8 million mansion opposite Ethel Kennedy - just weeks after splitting up from her grandson Conor

She may never, ever get back together with Conor Kennedy, but it appears that music superstar Taylor Swift has completed her deal to buy a $4.8 million mansion opposite his grandmother Ethel Kennedy.

The stunning seven-bedroom property that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean was bought by a shell company called Ocean Drive LLC, according to the deed filed at the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds last week.

Intriguingly, the Nashville-based company was only formed on July 31 to handle real estate - and its address on the property deed is listed in the care of Taylor's financial management firm, Flood, Bumstead, McCready and McCarthy.

Taylor, 22, was first linked with the house that lies within the Kennedy compound in the summer when she started dating 18-year-old Conor, the son of Robert Kennedy Jnr and Mary Kennedy, who hanged herself in May.

Last month, it was revealed the pair had split as Taylor released her third album, Red, which went on to sell 1.2 million copies upon its first week of release.

However, a source told Page Six that the young couple are still very much in touch and had split mainly due to Taylor's hectic work schedule.

The singer is set to be honoured by the Kennedys when she joins a host of A-listers attending the Ripple of Hope Gala next month, which is held in honour of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

The event, which is is hosted by Ethel Kennedy, will be held at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York's Times Square, with Alec Baldwin as the master of ceremonies.

Mrs Kennedy, 84, the widow of former attorney general Robert Kennedy, had made it no secret how much she likes Taylor.

Speaking to the Cape Cod Times at the annual RFK Golf Tournament at the Hyannisport Club last month, she said: 'I am happy that we'll all be neighbors. I'm thrilled.'

When asked if Taylor was invited to the golf tournament, Mrs Kennedy said, 'That's the only thing she doesn't do. But we'll have to teach her for next year.

'You know what she really is? She's game. She had never sailed before--she sailed. She played anything that anyone else was doing.'

While Taylor told US Weekly that she wrote the song Starlight on her new album about Mrs Kennedy, saying: 'I saw a picture of Ethel and Bobby from when they were 17 at a dance and I just started humming the melody. Sometimes other people's stories inspire me, not always just mine.'

The star's new house is 4,440 square feet and is set on 1.11 acres along Nantucket Sound. It was named to Bloomberg Businessweek's "Most Expensive Summer Homes 2010" list when it was on the market for $13.5 million.

The whitewash Colonial-style house is said to have been built in 1928 and boasts seven bedrooms and six bathrooms - as well as its private stretch of beach.

Taylor is famously unlucky in love and writes songs about her failed relationships, which include a string of flirtations with celebrities such as John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Cory Monteith and Taylor Lautner.

And despite having recently gone through another high-profile split, Taylor recently revealed that she's not yet ready to give up on her mission for love.

She said: 'I think that the idea of finding another person to share your life with is the most fascinating, beautiful quest you could ever be on in life.

'And yes, living your dreams is so important too, and a lot of times I’ve put that before everything else. But then you get to a place where the whole time you’re living these dreams, you look beside you to say to someone, "Hey, isn’t this so much fun?!" And if there’s no one there to say it to, what’s the point?'

Taylor also admitted she dreams of giving up the rock star lifestyle and having a family, adding: 'Being a mom full time, doing everything for my kids, having a bunch of them.

'One day, I’m sure. But that’s the only other thing that could be as thrilling for me as doing this.'
