Justin Bieber's haircut inspired by Bob Katter, says Bob Katter

He has sung on the steps of Parliament House, breakdanced for votes and set up his own political party, now Kennedy MP Bob Katter is claiming Justin Bieber has stolen his style.

In a Tweet on Twitter this morning, Katter wrote: "Bieber who? I had that haircut 40 years ago. @justinbieber."

Famous for his outsize Akubra hat and unorthodox political philosophy, Katter's electorate of Kennedy covers half a million square kilometres of north Queensland, from the Northern Territory border to the shores of the Coral Sea on the Cassowary Coast.

Katter was tweeting from Chillagoe, in remote Far North Queensland, so was unavailable for comment this morning.

A spokeswomen in his office revealed that as a student Katter egged The Beatles upon their 1964 arrival in Brisbane.

Katter made the claim on ABC radio in 2004. Alleged accomplice Tony Glynn SC, a former Australian Bar Association President, has never confirmed the story.

There is no comment at present from the Justin Bieber camp.
