"The X Factor" U.S. judge Demi Lovato is the central character in an upcoming graphic novel/comic book that chronicles the story of her life. The book (available for pre-order at major book retailers) will be published by the independent Bluewater Productions, as part of the company's "Fame" series.
The graphic novel about Lovato goes on sale in the U.S. on August 15, 2012, for a suggest retail price of $7.99. The book is written by Michael Troy and illustrated by Nathan Girten.
Other celebrities who have gotten the "Fame" treatment by Bluewater Productions include Lovato's fellow "X Factor" U.S. judge Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, 50 Cent, David Beckham, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Nick Jonas, Big Time Rush and Katy Perry.
Spears, 30, and Lovato, 19, have many things in common besides becoming "X Factor" judges and being the subject of Bluewater graphic novels. They both came to national prominence as child stars on Disney Channel shows: Spears was on "The Mickey Mouse Club," and Lovato starred in the "Camp Rock" movies and the TV series "Sonny with a Chance."
Lovato and Spears have both spent time in rehab for substance abuse and have received professional treatment for serious psychiatric issues. Lovato has been very open with the public in disclosing that she is bipolar, but Spears has not publicly discussed her mental problems that have resulted in her being placed under a conservatorship since 2008.
Because of their fame, Lovato's and Spears' love lives have also been under public scrutiny. Spears' teen romance with Justin Timberlake, her two failed marriages (to Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline), and many of her flings have been all over the media. She is currently engaged to entertainment agent Jason Trawick.
Lovato's past boyfriends include actor Wilmer Valderrama and musician/actor Joe Jonas. More recently, Lovato has denied rumors that she is dating One Direction's Niall Horan, by saying that Horan is just "a friend" and that she wants to stay single to focus on her career.
In May 2012, Spears and Lovato replaced fired judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. (Scherzinger has since become a judge on "The X Factor" U.K.) At "X Factor" auditions in 2012 that took place in front of the "X Factor" U.S. judges (these auditions are free and open to the public), reporters and other journalists have given Spears mixed-to-negative reviews, while Lovato has gotten mostly positive reviews.
