Simon Cowell 'Pays One Direction £10m'

One Direction are reported to have been given a whopping £10m by Simon Cowell for their work over the last seven months.

The five members of the boy band, who have been greeted by hysteria in the US and Australia in recent weeks, are claimed by The People newspaper to have been handed £2m each by a grateful Cowell.

The X Factor mogul is said to be keen to reward them for working so hard and a source said: "Simon Cowell wants them to know what they deserve. They have been a massive success, what they have achieved is phenomenal. Simon thinks they are the hardest-working people in pop at the moment.

"They have made him an absolute fortune and he is incredibly proud. He always saw potential in them and now it's paying off. Girls across the globe simply love them."

The lads placed third in 2010's series of The X Factor, but have enjoyed enormous success across the Atlantic in recent months - becoming the first British act ever to go straight to the top of the US Billboard 200 albums chart with their debut LP.

But another report claims that the boys might be getting just a bit too comfy with life across the pond - saying that they are beginning to speak with an American accent.

The Daily Star quoted a source as saying: "The boys' accents are getting stronger by the day. It's getting a bit annoying now. I think they're just doing it to fit in with their new mates in America and to appeal to their US fans.

"We can't believe how quickly they picked it up. They've only been there five minutes."

We told you at the weekend how the fivesome are claimed to have ended their rivalry with fellow US boy band The Wanted.
