One Direction fans were beside themselves this morning after the Ticketek server continually crashed as they tried to buy tickets for the band's scheduled Australian tour in September 2013.
According to fans, the Ticketek server crashed within minutes of 21 arena shows going on sale at 10am. As of 1.30pm, 18 shows had sold out across Australia and New Zealand.
In St Ives, father of two Augustin Pettinato had two laptops and his iPhone set up ready to buy $100 A Reserve tickets for his daughters Chiara, 13 and Isabella, 7.
"By the time we logged in at 10.01am, [the website said] there were no tickets available," Mr Pettinato said. "My two daughters were very sad".
His daughter Chiara, a year 8 student, said she had been discussing the show all week at school and had sat by the two computers for an hour trying to get a ticket this morning, while her dad monitored his phone.
"I woke up really early because we though we would have an opportunity to get tickets," she said.
"I love the music, I have heaps of posters and CDs.
"By the end we were willing to get any seat at the back [but] Ticketek kept saying it was too busy. We were really disappointed," Chiara said
Last night five more national shows were added to the tour, due to "overwhelming public demand" in this week's pre-sale for the tour, Nine Live entertainment company reported.
This is the second tour for the British-Irish boy band. Australia experienced its first dose of "1D" fever earlier this month as screaming girls caused pandemonium in Sydney and Melbourne's CBD during the band's promotional tour.
One Direction's tour will run from September 11 to 29 next year, including concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne Adelaide and Perth.
