Justin Bieber is growing up and he wants the world to know it! The 18-year-old heartthrob enjoyed a leisurely brunch with his lady love, Selena Gomez, on April 14, and he was wearing an attention-grabbing t-shirt. Is Justin showing off a new souvenir or shedding his wholesome image?
“It seems like the young pop star is trying to break his innocent teen sweetheart perception and take on a tougher, in-your-face persona to broaden his fan base,” Kate Laufer, an Image and Branding Expert, EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com. “Justin has definitely been flexing his muscles lately, so to speak, through gruesome editorial features, and now, clothes adorned with profanity.”
Justin appeared beaten and bloody — and later being comforted by a scantily-clad swimsuit model — in the April/May issue of Complex.
While it is always important to grow with your target audience, Kate worries that Justin’s bad-boy behavior might hurt his innocent image. “Justin needs to be careful to ensure that he isn’t isolating the young fans (and their parents) who have been with him from the beginning.”
