It's all over the news nowadays- celebrities losing their privacy to hackers. The Insider's Christina McLarty had the opportunity to ask the stars at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards one-on-one about their experience with hackers, as well as how they deal with the dangers that go hand in hand with social media.
Fresh from a highly publicized holiday with boyfriend Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez is no stranger to fan and paparazzi obsession. She admits to being the victim of internet deviants, calling the experience "horrible." She says the hackers "put mean things about people [she] didn't even know." Gomez said the incident was "bad," but once the issues with her account were resolved, she twittered to [her] fans, and they actually thought it was funny."
Jim Carrey is a fan of Twitter, and finds no real danger in the threat of hackers. In fact, Carrey embraces the danger and takes credit for the most scandalous headlines of late, joking that the questionable "Weinergate" photo may or may not be a photo taken from Carrey's account.
"Dancing with the Stars" alum Romeo tells Christina his friend's "hack" his account all the time, posting "funny pictures" without his permission. For the time being he calls it "fun and games," saying that he isn't worried about scandalous pictures getting out because he "[doesn't] have nude pics."
