BIEBER fever hit Albert Park College recently but the school’s 150 students were not there to witness it.
Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber used the Albert Park basketball courts to wind down after two of his Melbourne concerts.
Bieber and his entourage arrived at 10.30pm and left at 1.15am.
The sessions were organised by former NBL star Nigel Purchase whose 2m tall son Jack, 15, was picked by Bieber to play on his team in the scratch match.
The request for a basketball venue had come via the son of former Melbourne Tigers star Darryl McDonald.
“Darryl called me and said they would rather play basketball instead of going back to the hotel,’’ Purchase said.
“So I was able to organise the venue.
“He’s (Bieber) not very tall but he handles the ball well.’‘
Jack Purchase said Bieber was a good player.
“He talked a lot with his crew and was talking about (NBA star) Russell Westbrook,’’ he said.
“It was really fun and I hope we can keep in touch.’‘
Bieber was named MVP in a celebrity basketball game during All Star weekend in Los Angeles in February.
