Before Sony decided that Andrew Garfield would don the mantle of Peter Parker in July 2012's "The Amazing Spider-Man," there were a number of buzz-worthy actors in the running to fill the hero's webbed underoos including "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" star Logan Lerman.
Though the 19-year-old actor didn't wind up with the wall-crawling role, he came closer than many other prominent contenders. At one point he was even cited as a near certainty. MTV news caught up with Lerman at this past weekend's WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco and picked his brain to see if he felt like he was missing out on playing Marvel's renowned Web-slinger.
"I was so glad that Andrew Garfield got it. Just because he's an awesome actor," said Lerman, "I mean as long as they give it to someone who is, you know, worthy of having that opportunity it always works out well. And I'm always happy to see when good actors get good parts."
Lerman's positive attitude is a characteristic in line with his upcoming role as d'Artagnan in this October's "The Three Musketeers." He may not be spinning webs in spandex, but fans can still catch the actor getting his swordplay on in a 3-D battle of good versus evil. Besides, Spider-Man hardly ever gets to wear feathered caps or sport curly flowing locks.
